LG V30 tipped to drop its secondary display for OLED screen

LG V30 render leak

LG is said to ditch the secondary display on the V30, according to trusted sources from XDA. The successor of V20 will instead get an OLED panel made by LG Display. Apple is also expected to use OLED display for its iPhone this year.

The V10 and V20 smartphones in the V series from LG sports a secondary ticker display. It is speculated that LG will not go with a secondary display as it wants to keep the 18:9 aspect ratio that is found on the LG G6. XDA further reported that the LG V30 will be powered by Snapdragon 835 and come with 4GB of RAM, 64GB internal storage that can be expandable via microSD card. In comparison the LG G6 is powered by Snapdragon 821.

Earlier in May, popular tipster Evan Blass shared a concept image of “Project Joan”, a.k.a. the LG V30 that highlighted a unibody metal design and dual rear cameras.
