BlackBerry has joined hands with Idea Cellular to launch a special 1GB data plan for Idea postpaid customers. This BIS plan for BlackBerry OS 7 customers offer 1GB of 2G data at Rs. 83 per month, and Rs. 999 annually (taxes extra). To activate the plan, postpaid Idea users on BB OS 7 can SMS ACT999ARP to 12345. This confirms the company’s commitment to BlackBerry OS 7 customers, even though it has moved to OS 10. BlackBerry has reduced the price of a range of QWERTY smartphones in India that includes the Q5, 9720 and the Curve 9320. The BlackBerry Q5 that was launched in India back in July last year for Rs. 24,990 got a price cut to Rs. 19,990 earlier this year. It is now available for Rs. 13990. The BlackBerry 9720 that was launched in India for Rs. 15,990 last September has got a price cut to Rs. 11,990. The BlackBerry Curve 9320 that was launched back in 2012 for Rs. 15990 has got a price cut to Rs. 9900.

BlackBerry launched the BlackBerry Z3 in India recently. It is the company’s first smartphone as the result of its 5-year Foxconn partnership. After the BlackBerry Z10 and the Z30, this is the third full touch BlackBerry 10 smartphone. The BlackBerry Z10 that was launched for Rs. 43490 in India last year got a price cut to Rs. 17,990 earlier this year, which made more people try out the BlackBerry 10 platform.
