Facebook announces Paper, a slick social news aggregator that lets you share your own stories

Facebook has taken the wraps off Paper, a new social news aggregator app that is designed to help you bring all the important stories, and even let you create your own. The app is first of the many apps that are in the works at Facebook Creative Labs, which plans to unveil a suite of mobile apps soon. Paper, which has very similar ideologies as Flipboard, shows you all the long form stories from your news feed, and lets you like and comment on them from the app, much like Facebook home, with a really cool presentation of full screen images and a card-like interface for other content. Other than that, you can also add your own categories and populate them with your own desired sources, just like you would, on a traditional news aggregator. Samsung Life Times – a new app under development for Samsung devices

Samsung is known to release new flagship devices along with a lot of software features and gimmicks. Samsung’s TouchWiz UI is one of the heaviest skins in terms of RAM consumption and it comes with a lot of default apps that you cannot uninstall. According to the rumor mill, Samsung’s TouchWiz reportedly getting a big overhaul alongside the launch of Samsung Galaxy S5. But just a couple of days back, Google and Samsung entered into an agreement for patents and Samsung may be toning down on the TouchWiz to make it more Google like.

Opera Mobile Store surpass 100 million users

Opera has announced that their Opera Mobile Store has reached 105 million monthly visitors at the end of Q4 2013. It now has over 100 million users globally, with a tremendous growth of 230% annually. It currently offers more than 200,000 mobile apps and games across most mobile platforms, including Android, Java, BlackBerry, Symbian and iOS. Apple has just expanded the availability of its iTunes Textbooks to 51 countries and the availability of iTunes Course U Manager to 70 countries. Sony Mobile has released the Timeshift burst app on Google Play that would let users with select (Xperia Z, Xperia  ZL,  Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia  Tablet Z) Xperia users to use the feature. This app captures 61 frames in 2 seconds starting even before you press the shutter, just like HTC One. Once it is captured, you can scroll back and forth to select the perfect image. This lets you help you reduce data usage, which can reduce data usage by up to 50% while browsing on-the-go. This uses Chrome’s Safe Browsing technology that helps protect you from malicious webpages, says Google. Opera Mobile for Android already has this feature called Off-Road mode with built-in Opera Mini compression.
