Samsung has announced three new USB 3.0 Flash Drives (UFD) with Samsung NAND flash technology. These are available in three form factors –  Regular bar type, FIT and DUO and have a high quality metal casing for added durability, and a streamlined ergonomic design making it easy to grip and use. Kingston 512GB UHS-I SDXC card

Kingston has introduced 512GB Class 10 UHS-I SDHC/SDXC card for cameras and camcorders. This will allow users to record more video and shoot more high-density image files without running out of space. It offers read speeds of up to 90MB/s and write speed of up to 45MB/s, similar to the 256GB UHS-I SDHC/SDXC card that was introduced last year. SanDisk announces the Connect Wireless Stick – USB flash drive with Wireless capabilities

SanDisk microSD card shipments exceed 2 billion in 10 years

SanDisk Corporation has announced it has shipped more than two billion microSD cards since it started commercial shipments 10 years back. SanDisk invented the microSD back in 2004, which was  initially known as TransFlash. The final specifications for the microSD format was released on July 13, 2005. The first microSD cards featured capacities starting at 32MB. SanDisk recently introduced a 200GB microSDXC card, a 6,250x increase in just 10 years. Samsung has introduced new memory card line-up that includes, PRO Plus and EVO Plus. These are enhanced versions of EVO and PRO series that were introduced last year. Both these belong to Class 10. These cards have 5 proof technique that can withstand, immersion, heat, shock, and prevent data corruption caused by x-rays, magnetic field (15,000 gauss magnetic force). It can survive in three-meter sea water for 72 hours, 48 more hours of improvement compared to existing EVO and PRO series. These cards can withstand minus 25-degree celsius to 85-degree celsius. The company has already introduced 128GB flash memory based on Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 2.0 and eMMC 5.1 standards for top-end and premium smartphones.  Mid-market smartphones will now be able to increase their storage capacity to 128GB as well with the new , says the company.
