Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer has been on a spree today with announcement of a stunning 1.1 billion USD Tumblr acquisition. Later in the day she took the stage to announce a brand new set of changes to make Flickr relevant again. Flickr for iOS gets updated after a year, brings a mobile friendly interface

Yahoo’s major service like Flickr was being neglected from a long time, last update received for the Flickr iOS app was on 21st December 2011. Now yahoo has come come out with a completely overhauled interface for iOS which is snappy, and mobile friendly.

Yahoo kills some of their mobile apps

Yahoo has announced that they would no longer support some of their mobile apps for iPad, iPhone, Android and BlackBerry, citing pace of change in the mobile space. They said that they have to keep moving, to keep innovating, and to continuously measure and scrutinize what’s working and what isn’t. Some of their latest apps Livestand for iPad, Hub for Android, Play for Android and their popular Yahoo! Mail, Messenger, Sportacular and Flickr would remain. Yahoo launches Android Apps for Mail, Messenger and Search Widget

Yahoo today launched it’s first ever Android Apps for Yahoo Mail and  Messenger . It has also launched a Search Widget for Android. It has also rolled out a HTML 5 websites for Mail and News for iPhone / iPod touch.

Nokia and Yahoo

Nokia and Yahoo have finally announced a partnership today in New York which was codenamed as Project Nike prior to this.  This might be significant for Nokia who has an ever declining market share in USA which is one of the most competitive mobile markets in the world.  Nokia and Yahoo will collaborate on Email , IM , Maps. Yahoo announces Yahoo Go Service

Yahoo has announced the launch of Yahoo! Go, a new suite of products designed to extend the its reach beyond the Web browser,

Yahoo announced the launch its new service, called Yahoo Go, at the 2006 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The new service, which will be available on mobile phones, personal computers and PC-connected TVs, will give users access to different Yahoo?s applications such as Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Messenger, Photos, calendar, address book, Web and image search, news, sports and finance without using a browser.

– Yahoo! Go mobile is available to download on Nokia Series 60 phones.
– Yahoo! Go TV is coming soon and will be available for all Windows XP PCs.
– Yahoo! Go Desktop is coming soon but Yahoo! Widgets is avialable now.

Obviosuly it?s a multi-device platform for accessing and using Yahoo Services and Products anywhere, anytime, getting rid of the confinements of a browser and a PC, and this is very promising as a concept, but apparantely Yahoo wasn?t ready for full launch at CES.

Google just announced that its Gmail webmail service is now available in a mobile phone friendly format. As long as Gmail Mobile doesn’t break any patents, it should be welcome to Gmailer’s looking to escape the desktop.

Google just announced that its Gmail webmail service is now available in a mobile phone friendly format. As long as Gmail Mobile doesn’t break any patents, it should be welcome to Gmailer’s looking to escape the desktop.

To use Gmail Mobile, just point your phone to http://m.gmail.com or sign up to get the link in a text message. In typical Google style, Gmail Mobile is free though standard carrier charges may apply. In a quick test here the service proved easy to use.

Google recently launched a mobile version of its map service, in the form of a Java application.
