WhatsApp Security flaw could allow anyone enter group chats despite end-to-end encryption

German researchers have found a flaw that let’s infiltrate any WhatsApp’s group chats despite end-to-end encryption. Wired reports that the flaws in WhatsApp’s security were discovered at the Real World Crypto security conference in Switzerland. Furthermore, anyone with control on app’s servers could insert new people into private group chats without needing admin permission. WhatsApp users exchanged record 75 billion messages on New Year’s Eve

WhatsApp; the biggest chat application in the world with over 1 billion active users daily has seen a recording breaking 75 billion messages sent on December 31st night on the occasion of New Year 2018. WhatsApp ordered by French data protection authority to stop sharing user data with Facebook

France data privacy watchdog; CNIL has given a 1-month ultimatum to WhatsApp over Facebook data transfers without proper users consent. It ordered WhatsApp to stop sharing data with Facebook without proper permissions, and if WhatsApp fails to follow the order, the watchdog said that it could sanction the company. You could choose to share your real-time location for 15 minutes, 1 hour or 8 hours with your loved ones in chat message with a single person or a group. I always dislike giving directions to people over phone and have always relied on WhatsApp location sharing feature to keep it simple. This new update makes location sharing even more seamless.

It looks like soon you will be able to unsend a message you might have accidently sent to a person on WhatsApp. The Facebook owned messaging app is finally testing a feature that will let you recall a message after it is sent, according to WABetaInfo. Dubbed as ‘Delete for Everyone’, the feature will allow you to quickly delete messages before the receiver has had a chance to read them.
