BlackBerry Messenger crosses 85 million MAU, Hits Windows Phone in July

At BlackBerry’s earnings call earlier this week, CEO John Chen revealed some vital statistics relating to their popular messaging application. Called BlackBerry Messenger or BBM, the service has crossed 160 million registered users. Out of these 85 million are active monthly users. BBM now available on iPad and iPod Touch

BlackBerry has just pushed an update for the BBM app on both iOS and Android. While the Android app brings with it some bug fixes, performance improvements, most of the feature additions lie on the iOS side of things. The biggest change with the update is that BBM is now supported on non cellular enabled iOS devices. This means that you can now install BlackBerry Messenger on your iPad as well as the iPod Touch. BBM to resume roll out to iPhone and Android today but new users will be on a waiting list

It’s back. The BlackBerry Messenger, fondly known as BBM faced some intense server loads thanks to a pre-release leak on Android, which forced the company to postpone the much awaited launch. After a long wait, it looks like the company is finally up to speed and ready to launch on both iOS and Android today, resuming where it left off on iOS and completely starting afresh on Android. According to the official blog, you should be hopefully seeing the BBM app popup on the App Store, Google Play and the Samsung Apps Store any time in the next few hours. BBM for Android and iPhone not coming this week, says BBM head

BlackBerry Messenger for Android was supposed to go live last week, but the launch was paused after the issues caused by leaked the Android APK. BlackBerry announced a couple of days back that they have paused the roll out since the leaked APK brought 1.1 million active users in the first 8 hours, even before the official release that created several issues when they were about to release these apps officially. We even tried out BBM for iPhone that went live briefly on Saturday in the New Zealand app store. Later it was pulled. BBM for iPhone is here! Yes, for real. Here are some screenshots of BBM or BlackBerry Messenger running on an Apple iPhone 5 with iOS7.  BlackBerry announced few months back that it was bringing the BlackBerry Messenger service to iOS and Android and has kept its promise. The app is a free 30MB download which has gone live on the New Zealand iTunes app store as of now. It would be going live on the Indian App Store later today and will be available worldwide. You can either use your existing BlackBerryID (If you were using a BlackBerry device in the past) or create a new one. You need to verify the associated email account to get things working. BBM for iOS is now live

The very popular BlackBerry messenger (which was exclusive to BlackBerry devices so far) has now gone live on the iOS App Store. To be available around the globe over the next 24 hours, the application is now available on the New Zealand App Store.

BBM for Android and iPhone coming on September 21st and 22nd respectively

Yesterday, BlackBerry announced their big Z30 and we brought you news that BBM will be available for Android and iOS very soon. After months of waiting, BBM will be finally available as a cross-platform service starting this week. BlackBerry have officially announced that BBM is be coming to Android on September 21st and to iOS on September 22nd.

Micromax to preload BBM on all its Canvas Smartphones

BlackBerry messenger, one of the most popular instant messaging services, had announced its arrival on iOS and Android platforms earlier, but it looks like manufacturers are already warming up to the concept of pre-loading it on their devices. Micromax is the one of the first manufacturers to announce that it will pre-load BBM on all of its Canvas Smartphones starting from the first week of October. But of course existing users too, can download the BBM app through the play store, irrespective of the device they own.

Samsung to offer BBM in Samsung App Store on Galaxy devices in Africa

Samsung today announced its plans to offer BBM on its self branded application store that comes pre-installed on its Galaxy range of Android devices. The move will start off first in Africa which is still a heavy user of BBM services. We expect the application to be available on their app store in other territories as well.

BlackBerry Messenger for Android shows up online in leaked images

BlackBerry had announced it’s intentions to introduce its wildly popular messenger service to the Android and iOS platforms earlier this year. We’ve been hearing rumors of a late summer release and if our sources are to be trusted, the application will see a release in the coming weeks on both the platforms. Ahead of the release, screenshots from the Android build of the application have been leaked online.

BBM Chat goes cross platform, to be available on Android, iOS alongside BB10

BlackBerry’s core strength – the BlackBerry messenger, in a surprising move, is going cross platform with iOS and Android versions of the very popular messaging platform to be made available in the coming months. It was announced right now, at its BlackBerry live conference in Orlando. The iOS as well as the Android app will be free on the respective stores. BBM will be compatible on all iOS devices running iOS 6 and Android devices running 4.0 ICS and above.
