Dell is said to be working on a 2-in-1 tablet in a bid to take on Microsoft’s Surface Pro. Dubbed as XPS 12, the tablet is tipped to sport a 4K display that can be docked onto a keyboard or transformed into a tablet.

The modern smartphone is trending toward 4K displays and curved screens and Huawei has ruled out the former but is considering using curved displays on future Huawei smartphones. Japan Display is one of leading producers of smartphone displays and the Japanese company has now started shipping the samples of its 10.1inch 4K displays. The 10.1inch LCD display has a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels ( 3840 – horizontal and 2160 – vertical) and the display is being called 4K2K display. We are yet to see 4K TVs become mainstream, but the 4K fever has already started catching on to the tablet industry.

Samsung held their second Analyst Day yesterday and the outcome of the event is that we now have an idea regarding what Samsung is planning for the smartphone market in the next couple of years. Among the various important revelations in event, certain highlights were that Samsung will be producing their custom ARM core CPUs and are planning to introduce 560ppi display smartphones in 2014 and 4K phones in the year after.
