Nokia Lumia 925: What’s New in the Amber Update?

We have been playing around with the Nokia Lumia 925 for a while, and had unboxed it to provide a first look of the device, but there is a lot more to talk about. While the 4.5 inch AMOLED screen, the six element lens and the new design and build are the major hardware changes from the 920, the software here is the star, called as the Nokia Amber update. The Amber update, is actually additive to the Windows Phone GDR2 release that brings some minor improvements to all Windows Phone devices. The Amber update though, brings a lot of usable improvements exclusively to Nokia Lumia devices. Lets go through every one of them.

Last month Evleaks hinted that Droid Ultra, Droid Mini and Droid Maxx would be launched in the U.S for Verizon Wireless later this year. Now the twitter user has leaked the first press image of the Droid Maxx. Spice Coolpad 2 Mi-496, the company’s new smartphone in the Coolpad series is now available from online retailer Saholic. Spice launched the Coolpad Mi-515, the first smartphone in the Coolpad series after the Coolpad tie up last month. The Coolpad 2 has a 4.5-inch (960 x 540 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).  It is likely to come with a Snapdragon 200 (MSM8625Q) processor, since the Chinese variant Coolpad 7268 comes with a similar chip. The  Coolpad Mi-515 had a quad-core MediaTek MT6589M processor. It comes with a 5-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash has Dual SIM support with Dual Standby. Camera360 app to be pre-installed on the Nokia Lumia 925

Camera360 has partnered with Nokia to pre-install the Camera360 app on the Lumia 925, the latest Lumia smartphone. The app would come pre-loaded on the device following its sales start in China from 28th June 2013. So it is clear that only new devices would come with the app pre-installed, since we did not find the app on our device that we unboxed last month. Camera360 has also announced that the app has been optimized for the device for better images. Instagram for iPhone got a huge update last month that brought video support. Now the app has received a minor update to version 4.0.2 that lets you shoot photos or record videos in landscape orientation. When you switch your iPhone to the landscape orientation all the buttons switch automatically to the landscape mode, you can’t use the volume button as a shutter in this mode. Spice Coolpad Mi-515 Benchmarks


Spice launched the Coolpad Mi-515 few weeks back. Here we have the benchmarks of the device. It has a 5-inch qHD (960 × 540 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display, powered by a powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589M processor with PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU similar to the Xolo Q700. iBall  has launched the Slide 3G 9728,  a new tablet in the Slide Performance series. It has a 9.7-inch (1024 x 768 pixels) 10 point multi-touch display, powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It comes with a 5-megapixel auto focus camera on the back and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. It comes with SIM card support that offers 3G data connectivity and voice calling. The company launched the Slide Q9703 with 9.7-inch (2048 x 1536 pixels) HD IPS multi-touch retina display and a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor back in May. LG launched the Optimus G Pro in India yesterday at a price tag of Rs. 42,500 (MRP). We got hold of the device to run some benchmarks. The device has a 5.5 inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display, powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7 GHz with Adreno 320 GPU clocked at 400 MHz and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).
