Samsung reports record profit of $9.6 billion in Q3 2013

Samsung just reported its Q3 earnings for 2013, in which the company has managed to make operating profit of 10.16 trillion won (~US$9.6 billion), which is the highest Samsung has ever posted in a single quarter and a 7-percent increase compared to last quarter. It has reported net profit of 8.24  trillion won (~US$7.76 billion) and revenues of 59.08 trillion won (~US$55.6 billion). Mobile phone sales accounted for 35.20 trillion won (~US$33.1 billion), which is 2-percent increase compared to last quarter. Huawei Ascend P6 Benchmarks

Huawei Ascend P6, the company’s latest flagship smartphone went on sale in India earlier this week. We brought you the unboxing of the device earlier today. Here we have the benchmarks of the device. The Ascend P6 has a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) display based on in-cell LCD screen technology and is powered by a the Huawei’s own K3v2 processor developed by HiSilicon Technologies from Huawei. It has four 4 ARM Cortex A9 cores based on ARMv7 architecture. The chip is based on 40nm technology. It has a 16-core Vivante GC4000 GPU. Xolo A500L with 4-inch display, dual-core processor and Android 4.2 coming soon

Xolo launched the A500S back in August, now it is all set to launch the A500L in the A Series. It has appeared on the official Xolo website and packs a 4-inch  (480×800 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.3 GHz dual-core MediaTek MT 6572 processor with Mali 400 MP GPU and runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 3.0-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. It has dual SIM support with dual standby similar to other Xolo smartphones. This would compete with the recently launched Panasonic T31 that has almost similar specifications.

Micromax has finally launched the most expected Canvas Turbo, the company’s latest flagship smartphone in India. It has a 5.0-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) CGS (Continuous Grain Silicon) IPS display, powered by 1.5 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589T processor and runs on Android 4.2.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 13-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera similar to the Canvas 4. It has Camerazzi camera which offers a lot of features including 360 degree panorama, Cinemagraph that lets usr animate still photographs (.GIF) and Object Eraser feature allows users to erase unwanted objects from still pictures that are shot with the smartphone. Intex Aqua HD Review

Intex launched the Aqua HD, the company’s first smartphone with a HD display last month. We brought you the unboxing and the benchmarks of the device earlier this month, here we have the complete review of the device. We reviewed the Intex Aqua i5 with a 5-inch qHD display back in July, but this one has a 4.7-inch HD display, so the pixel density would obviously be better. Nokia Lumia 1520 vs Nokia Lumia 925 Hands On

Nokia launched some smartphones and feature phones at the Nokia World event in Abu Dhabi. They also launched their flagship device – Nokia Lumia 1520. The Nokia Lumia 1520 is a definite flagship phone as it packs top of the shelf specifications under a Full HD display. It is also the company’s first phablet and first Windows Phone phablet. The Nokia Lumia 925 on the other hand is a relatively old phone which was launched earlier this year and it built upon the PureView camera of Nokia Lumia 920 in a much lighter body.

It has a 8 megapixel auto-focus camera with BSI sensor, F2.2 lens, LED flash and 1080p full HD video recording and a 2 megapixel fixed-focus HD front-facing camera. LG reports Q3 2013 earnings, net profit down despite 12 million smartphone shipments

LG Electronics has announced their earnings for Q2 2013. They have reported net profit of 109 billion Won (US$ 109 million) with operating profits of 217.80 billion Won (US$ 196.34 million). Even though the mobile communications sector earned revenues of 3.05 trillion Korean Won (US$ 2.75 billion), a 24% increase YoY, the operating profit is down by 80 billion Won (US$ 75.7 million) mainly due the marketing for the G2 says the company. LG shipped 12 million units of mobile phones in Q3 2013, which is slightly less than last quarter. Nokia Lumia 1520 Vs LG G2 Hands On

Nokia Lumia 1520 launching in the UK next week?

The first Windows Phone phablet, the Nokia Lumia 1520, could launch in the UK this month, less than two weeks after its announcement. According to Carphone Warehouse’s Coming Soon page, the UK retailer will launch the Full HD Lumia 1520 by the end of October and if accurate, this could be the first time Nokia has bought a handset to market within a fortnight of announcing it.

The Lumia 1520 is the first Windows Phone device to feature a 6 inch screen, Full HD resolution and a superfast quad-core processor. The 6 inch 1080p display offers 367 pixels per inch and the 2.2GHz quad-core processor is accompanied by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset and Adreno 330 GPU. The Lumia 1520 comes with Nokia’s imaging prowess as the 20MP camera offers ZEISS Optics, PureView oversampling technology, Optical Image Stabilisation and a dual-LED flash.
