Amit Singhal, Google Search SVP is retiring after 15 years

Google’s senior vice president for Search, Amit Singhal is bidding adieu to the company after a 15 year long stint. Singhal, who joined Google in 2000 will be replaced by John Giannandrea, currently vice president of engineering and head of artificial intelligence.

Huawei launched the Honor 5X smartphone in India at a price tag of Rs. 12999 last week. It went on sale yesterday. We already brought you the photo gallery of the smartphone, here we have the benchmarks. It is powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 64-bit processor (Even though CPU-Z shows it has Snapdragon 615) that has four ARM Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.50 GHz per core and other four Cortex A53 cores are clocked at 1.21 GHz per core. It has Adreno 405 GPU clocked at 550 MHz, 2GB RAM, 5-inch 1080p screen and runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) with EMUI 3.1 Lite. Singtel introduces Singapore’s first 10Gbps residential fibre service

Singtel today announced that it will offer Singapore’s first 10Gbps fibre broadband service to residential customers starting this month. It was piloted for a selected group of customers last year and uses next-gen 10GPON or Gigabit Passive Optical Network. It also features four 1Gbps ports so that it multi-user environments such as home offices and large households. HTC reports $101 million loss for Q4 2015, down 46% YoY

HTC today reported a net loss of NT$ 3.4 billion ($101 million), on revenue of NT$ 25.7 billion ($766 million) for its fiscal 2015 fourth quarter that ended December 31, 2015. This is the third consecutive loss for the company. Even though the operating profit is up 20% quarter-on-quarter, it is down 46% year-on-year. Lenovo records $12.9 billion in revenue, down 8 percent year-over-year in Q3 2015

Lenovo has announced results for its third fiscal quarter ended December 31, 2015.  The company recorded quarterly revenue of $12.9 billion, an 8 percent year-over-year decrease. The company said net profit reached $300 million, up 19% from $253 million in the same period.

Microsoft officially confirms it has acquired SwiftKey

After reports, Microsoft has officially announced that it has acquired SwitKey, one of the popular keyboard app makers. The exact amount of the deal is not disclosed, but it is said to be $250 million, according to an earlier report. Microsoft said that it will continue to develop SwiftKey’s keyboard apps for Android and iOS and will also explore scenarios for the integration of the its core technology in its products.
