NTT Docomo to launch new Mobile Translation Apps

NTT Docomo, Japan’s largest telecom operator has announced that they would launch 2 new apps, Hanashite Hon’yaku and Utsushite Hon’yaku for their customers. The Hanashite Hon’yaku is the world’s first commercial mobile service for translation that would translate the conversations between people speaking Japanese to other languages. NTT Docomo introduced a text translation app earlier this May. Apple CEO Tim Cook apologizes for Maps on iOS 6


Apple CEO Time Cook has issued an apology letter on Apple website  regarding the new Maps app on iOS 6 saying that Apple fell short on the commitment to deliver the best experience to the customers. The new iPhone 5 sold 5 milion units in the first 3 days and the iOS 6 update started rolling out for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch last week uses Apple’s own maps instead of Google Maps that is used in more than 100 million iOS devices. Sony Xperia U, Xperia Sola and Xperia Go Android 4.0 update starts rolling out


Sony Mobile has has started rolling out Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update for Xperia P as they promised last month. This update would bring new features including, new lock screen with improved functionality, Resizable widgets, Extended standby mode, Recent Apps button, WALKMAN, Album and Movies apps. Texas Instruments not abandoning OMAP yet, OMAP 5 expected early 2013

Earlier this week Reuters reported that Texas Instruments plans to concentrate more on embedded chip business than the smartphone and tablet business. Now, in a statement sent to GSMArena, TI said that they are not abandoning but broadening the reach of its OMAP products, aiming at embedded applications such as automotive, industrial, enterprise communication, vision and robotics. Samsung ATIV Tab gets a pre-order price in UK, coming in October


Samsung ATIV Tab running Windows RT Tablet with Windows UI has received a price tag in UK. Online retailer Clove UK has announced that it would be available in UK by the end of October. Microsoft was the first to reveal their Surface Tablet. The Windows RT version is expected to launch by October-end but they did not reveal the price. Micromax has launched the Funbook Infinity (P275). It has a 7-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz processor with Dual Mali 400– the 2D/3D Graphics Processor. It runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It has a 2MP camera at the back and 0.3MP front-facing camera. There are dual front-facing loudspeakers for loud audio output. Samsung Galaxy Camera launching in India by mid-November

Samsung launched the Galaxy Note II in India few hours back. They have also announced that the Galaxy Camera would launch in India in India by Diwali, which is mid-November. Samsung announced the Galaxy Camera at IFA Berlin last month. The 16 Megapixel camera has a F2.8 aperture, 23 mm focal length and 21x Optical Zoom Lens with BSI CMOS sensor. It packs in a 4.77-inch 308 ppi HD Super Clear Touch Display and is powered by an 1.4GHz Quad-Core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). Samsung has launched the most expected Galaxy Note II in India. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note II at IFA Berlin last month and the pre-booking started in India on Samsung eStore couple of weeks back. The Samsung Galaxy Note II comes with a 5.5-inch (1,280 x 720 pixels) HD Super AMOLED display, 1.6 GHz quad-core Exynos processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8MP auto focus camera with LED flash at the back and a 1.9MP front-facing camera. It has S Pen that comes with S Pen specific apps such as S Note, S Planner, Email with hand-writing integration and S Pen Keeper that alerts users if their pen is too far away from the Note II. YouTube for Android updated with New UI for Android 2.2 and 2.3 devices and more new features

YouTube for Android has been updated to version 4.1.23 that brings new UI for Android Froyo and Gingerbread devices. The home page now shows recommended video on top. You can now add video to YouTube TV queue from the app and pick more channels from the YouTube picks. The new UI and Preloading features were released for Android 4.0 devices in June.
