Nokia and Chinese handset maker Xiaomi Technology have signed a multi-year patent licensing agreement. Xiaomi also acquired patent assets from Nokia as part of the transaction. The deal also includes a cross license to each company’s cellular standard essential patents.

LeEco chairman’s assets and shares frozen by Chinese court over unpaid debt

A Shanghai court has frozen assets and shares of LeEco chairman Jia Yueting due to unpaid debts, according to a latest report from the New York Times. The court has reportedly frozen 1.2 billion yuan ($180 million) in assets owned by co-founder Jia Yueting, his wife Gan Wei and three subsidiaries.

Samsung tipped to be working on Bixby-powered smart speaker

It looks like Samsung is joining the Apple, Amazon and Google clan to make its own smart speaker. According to a new report from the Wall Street Journal, Samsung is working on smart speaker that will be powered by voice-activated voice assistant Bixby. Bixby is Samsung’s AI assistant — its answer to Alexa, or Siri, or the Google Assistant.

Sony has unveiled new range of its Wena watches that support NFC. The Wena wrist watches were first introduced in 2015. The latest range of Wena watches are called Three Hands Square. These are analog watches but offer smartwatch features like activity tracking, notification alerts and NFC support for making payments.
