Facebook rolls out in-app privacy notification ahead of Apple’s App Tracking transparency feature

Apple recently announced that in an upcoming iOS beta update, they will add a new feature called App Tracking transparency that will require apps to explicitly ask users for permission to track them across apps. In preparation, Facebook is rolling out a notification in their app that will inform users on what they do with their information.

MediaTek M80 5G modem with 5G mmWave and Sub-6 GHz, up to 7.67Gbps peak download speeds announced

MediaTek has announced their next generation M80 5G modem, replacing the M70 modem that was announced last year. The modem features support for both mmWave and sub-6 GHz 5G technologies, can function on both non-standalone (NSA) and standalone (SA) architectures capable of reaching peak download speeds of 7.67 Gbps and upload speeds of 3.76 Gbps.

Apple enables iPhone Face ID unlock for Apple Watch users wearing masks

When the COVID-19 pandemic struck last year, iPhone users faced a rather unique problem, they couldn’t use Face ID to unlock their phone when wearing a mask. Apple is now rolling out an update that will allow users to unlock their iPhone by using Face ID with reduced security, as long as they are wearing an Apple Watch.

Sony PlayStation 5 Review: Defining the next generation of console gaming

After a year of teasing us with the design, specs and upcoming games, Sony has finally launched their next generation game console in India, the PlayStation 5. The console has been in development for many years now, and has some major upgrades over the PlayStation 4 Pro, which was released more than 4 years ago. Similar to the last generation, Sony chose AMD CPUs and GPUs to power the console, and they are significantly more powerful than any of the previous generation.

After using it for about a week, and playing some of the launch titles, here are our thoughts and review of the Sony PlayStation 5.

Netflix is rolling out a new feature to their Android that will enable the ability to turn on an automatic timer for their viewing period. Subscribers can choose between 4 settings, and it can be used to ensure that the app stops playing content after the set time period and not auto-play.

Xiaomi files complaint against US Department of Defense for being added to blacklist

About two weeks ago, the US Department of Defense (DoD) announced a list of 9 companies that were being added to a blacklist of companies that were believed to be controlled by the Chinese Military. Xiaomi has now filed an official complaint against the ruling, claiming that the decision was “factually incorrect” and subsequently they are trying to reverse it.

Worldwide PC and tablet shipments reach 458.2 million units in 2020, 17% YoY growth: Canalys

In a report by Canalys, worldwide PC shipments, which include tablet shipments, has reached 458.2 million units during 2020, which calculates to a growth of 17% YoY. During the 4th quarter alone, the market shipped 143.7 million units, which is a growth of 35% YoY. Leading the market is Lenovo, followed by Apple, HP, Dell, and Samsung.

Telegram update v7.4.0 adds ability to import WhatsApp chats, improved chat deletion controls and more

Telegram has released a new update to their Android and iOS apps, bringing the version to 7.4.0. In the update, Telegram is adding the ability to import chats from a few other messaging apps, more chat deletion options, a few improvements to voice chats and some new app animations on Android.

Worldwide smartphone market record 385.9 million shipments, 4.3% YoY growth in Q4 2020: IDC

The International Data Corporation (IDC) has released their report for worldwide smartphone shipments in the 4th quarter of 2020 and for the entire year. The smartphone market shipped a total of 385.9 million during Q4, which calculates to a modest growth of 4.3% and showing improved signs of recovery.
