Toshiba has launched Toshiba WT8, the company’s latest Windows 8.1 tablet in India. It was originally announced as Encore 2 back in May and packs a 8-inch WXGA display, is powered by a 1.33 quad-core Intel Atom Z3735G processor, has a 5-megapixel auto focus rear camera and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera. It comes with a 1-Year free Office 365 Subscription. Toshiba has partnered with Amazon.in to sell the tablet.

Swipe Telecom has launched Swipe Slate Pro, the company’s latest tablet in the Slate series. It has a 9.7-inch IPS display, powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). Google unveiled the Nexus 9 tablet made by HTC back in October. It got priced at Rs. 28,900 for the 16GB WiFi variant and Rs.44,900 for the 32GB LTE variant on the Google Play Store in India last month. Now the 16GB WiFi Indigo Black variant of the Nexus 9 is on sale on Amazon.in at the same price of Rs. 28,900. The LTE variant is also expected to go on sale soon. Android 5.0 Lollipop update has started rolling out to LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition. The tablet had received Android KitKat 4.4 update in June.
As the tablet is a GPE device, the Lollipop update is similar to Google Nexus tablets. As a result of the Android 5.0 update, the LG G Pad 8.3 will receive Material Design user interface elements. It also brings lock screen notifications, a new battery saving mode, and features like Priority Mode and Smart Lock.
The LG G Pad 8.3 GPE edition sports a 8.3 Full HD IPS WUXGA (1920 x 1200 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.7GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 Processor. The Lollipop update is 405 MB and users can manually check for OTA update. Check out our LG G Pad 8.3 GPE edition tablet review here.
The tablet market in India has reported a strong quarter-on-quarter growth of 10%, according to a latest report from IDC. A total of 0.94 million tablets were shipped in the Q3, 2014 as compared to 0.86 million at a 9 per cent growth over the Q2, 2014.
