NVIDIA has started rolling out Android 4.3 over-the-air (OTA) update for the Tegra NOTE 7 tablet that adds new features and capabilities. The company has also said that the tablet from OEMs including XOLO would get the new update. Nvidia already announced that they would push out OTA update for the tablets directly, even though it is sold by different vendors globally. This update adds new features including improvements in stylus experience, help option for DirectStylus, high-dynamic range (AOHDR) capability in camera and more. AOHDR utilizes Tegra 4’s processing power and Chimera computational photography architecture that we saw at the Tegra 4 launch. Hike cross-platform messaging app for Android from Bharti SoftBank has been updated to version 2.7.0 that brings new Chat Themes. This option lets users set images as their chat backgrounds. It comes bundled with 20 preset backgrounds and has option to download more backgrounds. The two-way chat theme feature allows either of the users to set or change the background anytime during the chat and is also applicable to group chats. Facebook for Windows Phone has received a major update to version 5.2, that brings a lot of new features including new chat notifications, new secondary tiles for chat, events, groups, pages, and photo albums, supports for all the 50 languages that are currently supported in Windows Phone 8. Facebook 5.2 Beta for Windows Phone got these features recently, the new stable version adds all these features and also includes some bug fixes.

Sony has launched Sony LIV, premium video-on-demand service for BlackBerry 10 smartphones. The Sony LIV app is available for BlackBerry Z10 and Z30 smartphones from the BlackBerry World. The app comes pre-loaded on Sony Smartphones and is also available on iPhone and Windows Phone 8 devices. It offers content from Sony TV channels such as Sony Entertainment Television, MAX, SAB, MIX, across various genres including, drama, comedy, thriller, reality shows and more. Imangi Studios, creators of Temple Run has launched Temple Run 2 for Windows Phone 8 devices finally, as it promised. The first Temple Run game for Windows Phone was released back in March. Temple Run: Brave and Temple Run: Oz in the franchise were released soon after. Foursquare for iPhone got updated with redesigned iOS 7 look earlier this month that also added new features, but the new Android update doesn’t add any new features. It’s always fascinating to see the growth of a communications platform. The mobile phone grew worldwide thanks to a company called Nokia that connected people with calls and SMS as the medium, but in this age of apps and Smartphones, it’s Whatsapp that’s doing all the connecting. We have been watching its explosive growth over the course of two years, and it has been really interesting. Today, the company’s blog has announced that the service has crossed a whopping 400 million monthly active users, with almost a quarter of them – 100 million added in the last four months. This is seen as a huge growth for a space, in which there is suddenly a lot of competition, with some of them even willing to shell out big bucks for TV promotions and so on. However, it remains to be seen if people embrace choice or go for ubiquity.
