ASUS Zenfone 4 and Zenfone 5 smartphones received a price cut in India earlier this month. Now ASUS has released a new 8GB variant of the Zenfone 5 (A501CG) to Rs. 7,999 for Republic Day. The Zenfone 5 was launched for Rs. 9,999 last year and got a price cut to Rs. 9,499 earlier this month. According to ASUS, this new variant has 1.2 GHz dual-core Intel Z2520 Processor, but it retains the same 2GB RAM and 5-inch HD display, unlike 1GB RAM and 5-inch qHD display in the Zenfone 5 Lite. Nokia Networks reportedly bags Rs. 1240 crore 4G contract from Airtel

Nokia Networks has bagged Rs 1,240 crore ($200 million) contract from Bharti Airtel to build 4G network in the 1800 MHz band in six telecom circles, according to ET.  Airtel will soon announce the deal that will cover Mumbai, MP, West Bengal, Odisha, Punjab and Kerala circles, according the report.

MediaTek to release its first 64-bit Octa-Core 20nm SoC in Q4 2015 reveals leaked roadmap

MediaTek is working on a 64-bit Octa Core SoC in the MT67XX series, which will be MediaTek’s first chip that will be based on 20nm process, according to a leaked roadmap. MediaTek introduced the MT6795 SoC last year as the world’s first 64-bit Octa-Core smartphone SoC with built-in 4G LTE Cat.9. It has 4 ARM Cortex-A53 CPUs and 4 ARM Cortex-A57 CPUs and is based on 28nm process. Unlike the MT6795 SoC, the upcoming SoC would come with Cat.6 LTE and is expected to be targeted at mid to high-end 4G devices.

Samsung Galaxy S6 variant to come with dual edge display: Report

New day new report about the Samsung Galaxy S6. Today, SamMobile is stating that the Galaxy S6 variant will have a two edge display resembling the one side edge display on Note Edge.

The Galaxy S6 that has the model number SM-G925 is being called as Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge for now. If the phone becomes a reality, the phone will be like the Note Edge only with curved edges on both the sides instead of one.  The phone will utilize similar interface for its side panels similar to the Note Edge. It will have the ability to display panels from Yahoo! Finance, news, sports, a briefing panel, and even a pedometer panel. It will also display favorite apps, contacts, and more specially designed apps will be created and available for download via Samsung’s app store.

It is also said that Samsung will allow users to customize contacts with specific colors so that their notifications appear more prominently on the edge. The Glance Lighting feature will allow for the edges to light up whenever there’s an incoming call. Yesterday, it was reported that the Galaxy S6 will opt for a touch based fingerprint scanner instead of swipe based.
