Idea, Airtel, Vodafone and others win spectrum as auction raises Rs. 1.10 lakh crore

The Department of Telecom (DoT) has announced the winners in the spectrum auctions in various circles that ended after 115 rounds. At the end of the auction for 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz government got bids worth Rs 1.098 lakh crore. Idea Cellular bid a maximum of Rs. 30,306.98 crore, Airtel bid Rs. 29,130.20 crore and Vodafone bid Rs. 29,959.74 crore to buy spectrum in the 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2,100 MHz bands.

Twitter launches Periscope live streaming app for iPhone

Twitter has launched Periscope, a new app for iPhone that lets you stream live videos. You can sign up using Twitter and share the broadcast link to your followers, but you can’t watch the stream directly on Twitter yet. Twitter silently acquired Periscope earlier this year. This app competes directly with Meerkat, and the Periscope app lets you replay the broadcasts when it’s over, which the Meerkat app lacks. ZTE today announced two new smartphones nubia Z9 Max and nubia Z9 mini in the nubia series. The nubia Z9 Max is the company’s first smartphone with a Snapdragon 810 SoC. It has a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD CGS (Continuous Grain Silicon) OGS display with 75.1% screen-to-body ratio, while the Z9 mini has a 5-inch 1080p display CGS (Continuous Grain Silicon) OGS display with 74.1% screen-to-body ratio and is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 615 SoC.  These have aluminum alloy frame .

LG Watch Urbane LTE launched in Korea

LG unveiled the Watch Urbane LTE at the MWC earlier this month, today LG has launched the smartwatch in Korea. The LTE version of the Urbane smartphone has a new design, runs on LG’s own wearable platform, comes with voLTE voice calling support and also comes with NFC support for easy payments. It has the same 1.3-inch (320 x 320 pixels) P-OLED Display, metal build, 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 SoC, 4GB internal storage and IP67 ratings for dust and water resistance. HTC schedules ‘More than One’ event in Beijing on April 8th, One M9+ expected

The invite says More than One along with an image of the back of the smartphone with two cameras that hints at the rumored HTC One M9+. Google working on “Pony Express” service to pay bills directly from Gmail

Google is working on a tool that will allow Gmail users to manage, pay, and receive all their bills directly within Gmail according to a report from Re/Code. Dubbed as “Pony Express” the service is expected to roll out in the fourth quarter of 2015.
