Amazon Cloud Drive moves to unlimited subscription-only storage plans

Amazon Cloud Drive

Amazon Cloud Drive has launched two new unlimited Cloud Drive plans and has removed the current 5GB free plan. These new plans include Unlimited Photos plan for $11.99 per year, plus 5 GB for videos and files, and Unlimited Everything plan for $59.99 per year that offers unlimited storage for photos, video, files, and documents.

The current 5GB plan is no longer available and will be replaced with a free 3-month trial of one of the Unlimited plans. Access to your existing files has not changed and you can continue to download and view your content, but to upload new files you will need to pick one of the free 3-month trials, said the company. Existing Cloud Drive customers can change their plans now by simply logging into their Cloud Drive accounts.

Commenting on the new unlimited plans, Josh Petersen, Director of Amazon Cloud Drive, said:

Most people have a lifetime of birthdays, vacations, holidays, and everyday moments stored across numerous devices. And, they don’t know how many gigabytes of storage they need to back all of them up. With the two new plans we are introducing today, customers don’t need to worry about storage space—they now have an affordable, secure solution to store unlimited amounts of photos, videos, movies, music, and files in one convenient place.

Amazon already offers free unlimited access to photos for Prime members and Fire device owners, they have option to switch to Unlimited Everything Plan. You can subscribe to Unlimited Cloud Drive plans or start your three-month free trial on the Amazon Cloud Drive website here.
