Kingston 64GB microSDXC UHS-I U3 memory card Review

Kingston introduced its 64GB Class 10 UHS-I Speed Class 3 (U3) microSD for smartphones and tablets last month. It is not available in India yet, but we manged to get one for review before it launches here. Since it is a UHS-1 U3 (Ultra High-Speed Bus, Speed Class 3) card, it is rated for a minimum 30MB/s read/write speed as recommended by the SD Association, but Kingston promises 90MB/s read and 80MB/s write speed. We reviewed Kingston’s 128GB UHS-1 Class 10 microSD card recently, which offered great speed than we expected, let us find out how the 64GB card performs. Pan-India Mobile Number Portability will be available from May 3

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had released recommendations for Pan-India Mobile Number Portability (MNP) back in September 2013. At that time it said that it would recommend 6 months for the operators to roll out full MNP across the country. Later on 3rd November it had issued amendment to implement Full MNP in the country in 6 months from the date of amendment, i.e 3rd May. Today it has made some changes to it and issued a 6th amendment to the Telecommunication Mobile Number Portability Regulations, 2009. Fly Qik and Qik+ smartphones with Octa-Core SoC launched for Rs. 5999 and Rs. 6999

Fly Qik India launch

Fly Mobile has launched its Qik and Qik+ smartphones in India. Both these smartphones are powered by a 1.7GHz Octa-Core MediaTek processor, run on Android 4.4 (KitKat). The Fly Qik has a 4.5-inch FWVGA and features a 8-megapixel rear camera, while the Qik+ comes with a 5-inch HD display and a 13-megapixel rear camera. India smartphone market declines for the first time in Q4, 2014: IDC

Indian smartphone market has shrinked for the first time in Q4, 2014, as per latest report from IDC. Mobile shipment stood at 64.3 million units in Q4 2014, reflecting a quarter-on-quarter drop of 11% over Q3 2014 and an annual drop of 5%.

Android One Lollipop update starts rolling out in India

Google has finally started rolling out Android Lollipop update for the Android One smartphones – Micromax Canvas A1, Spice Dream UNO Mi-498 and Karbonn Sparkle V in India, as it promised earlier this month. Google released new Android One smartphones running Android 5.1 Lollipop in Indonesia earlier this month, so the update could be Android 5.1 instead of Android 5.0, but we are not sure yet. Samsung says it still leads the Indian tablet market

Earlier this week IDC reported that iBall is the top Indian tablet maker in India with 15.6% market share in Q4 2014 compared to Samsung that grabbed 12.9% share, based on shipments. Today Samsung has issued a statement saying that it is still the leader in Indian tablet market. It grabbed 40.6% volume market share and 49% value market share during October-December 2014 quarter, said the company. Lenovo launched the Tab 2 A7-10 tablet in India for Rs. 4,999, but this comes in 2G and 3G variants with voice calling capabilities. Samsung Galaxy A3 Battery Life Test

Samsung launched the Galaxy A3 smartphone in India last month for Rs. 20,500. We already brought you the complete review of the smartphone, here we have its battery life test results. The Galaxy A3 packs a 1900mAh built-in battery, slightly smaller than the Galaxy A5. It has a same Snapdragon 410 SoC and runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat, but this come with a smaller 4.5-inch qHD display. Check out the results.

Xolo has announced Xolo Win Q1000, its latest Windows Phone 8.1 smartphone. It has a 5-inch HD display, is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 (MSM8212) processor with Adreno 302 GPU, comes with a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Most of the specifications of the smartphone are similar to the Xolo Win Q900s that was introduced last year. TRAI cuts Interconnection Usage Charges for mobile and landline

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has revised interconnection usage charges (IUC) for both landline and mobile after almost six years. It reduced domestic termination charges for fixed to fixed, fixed to mobile, mobile to fixed and mobile to mobile from 30 paise to 20 paise per minute back in 2009. Now it has further reduced mobile to mobile to 14 paise per minute and removed termination charges completely for fixed to fixed, fixed to mobile, mobile to fixed line.
