Alcatel has silently introduced the X1 smartphone in India. It has a 5-inch HD AMOLED screen with Dragontail Glass protection and has Gorilla Glass protection on the back. It is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 615 SoC, runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop), has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera that also has LED flash. It has dual SIM support and 4G LTE connectivity.
Swipe Technologies has launched Elite Plus, the company’s latest 4G smartphone in the Elite series. It has a 5-inch 1080p display from Sharp with 78% screen-to-body ratio and Dragontrail glass protection. It is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 615 SoC, runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) with Freedom OS. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Reliance Jio Infocomm, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) had launched 4G services for its employees in December last year. It has now launched the Jio.com website, which is now live for everyone. Previously it was restricted only to its employees internally. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released a new app called DND Services for Android devices. The app lets you register complaint to your service provider regarding Unsolicited Commercial Communication(UCC) / Telemarketing Calls or SMS if you receive them even after you have registered for DND (Do Not Disturb).

Xiaomi had applied to Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) for opening single brand retail stores in India in March. Now the Chinese smartphone maker has withdrawn its request seeking complete exemption from the mandatory 30 per cent local sourcing norms for single brand retail stores, according to latest PTI report.

It started taking pre-orders for the smartphone from May 21st exclusively on Flipkart and also offered a free LG Cam Plus companion device worth Rs. 6500 for the orders. The Indian Government has officially rejected Apple’s proposal to sell refurbished iPhones in India, as per a latest PTI report. A report earlier this month had cited a telecom ministry official over the rejection of Apple’s plan on refurbished phones. However, this time the Commerce Ministery has revealed that it is not in favour of Apple’s plans.
Xiaomi launched the Mi 5 smartphone in India for Rs. 24,999 back in March, which went on sale through flash sale starting from April 6th. Today the company has announced that the phone will be available through open sale starting from June 1st starting from 10AM through the Mi India website. Both the variants of the Redmi Note 3 will also go on open sale in India through Amazon, Flipkart and Snapdeal at the same time.
