HERE Maps Beta gets Android 5.0 Lollipop support, bug fixes and improvements

HERE Maps for Android was launched as beta last month. The app has been updated to version 1.0.220 that brings support for Android 5.0 (Lollipop). This update also brings fixes to downloaded voice files that will not be cleared if the phone’s cache is wiped using a cleaner, as it promised. Sony announces Android 5.0 Lollipop beta test on Xperia Z1, Z2 and Z3

Sony had confirmed last month that Android 5.0 update is coming to the entire Xperia Z line. Now, the company is revealing that it has received the AOSP of the latest Android 5.0 from Google and has started the beta testing.

Samsung Gear Live Review

Samsung was one of the first consumer electronics giants to dive head-first into the world of wearables with its own line of Smartwatches, starting with the Gear. The original Gear that initially ran on Android, now runs on Tizen, and Samsung’s already iterated on it a couple of times, with the Gear 2, the Gear Fit, the new Gear S, all variations and experiments on the hot new market.

But then Android Wear happened, with Samsung announced as one of the partners. Rival LG had already announced its first Watch, but Samsung waited until IO to announce their first smartwatch that will work across all Android devices, not just Samsung ones, the Gear Live. The Gear Live, the stripped down Android variant of the Gear 2, joins the other Wear watches, in the effort to appeal to consumers willing to invest in a new category of devices. LG G Watch R lands on the US Google Play Store for $299

The LG G Watch R has arrived on Google Play Store in the United States. Announced in August, the Android Wear smartwatch from LG is priced at $299 and will ship out in 1-2 days after the order is placed.

HTC Desire 516c Benchmarks

HTC launched the Desire 516c smartphone, the Dual SIM (CDMA + GSM) variant of last year’s Desire 516 in India last month for Rs. 12,990. It is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 200 Processor with four ARM Cortex A7 cores clocked at 1.19 GHz per core and has Adreno 302 GPU. But the CPU-Z and other benchmark apps show that it has a Adreno 305 GPU. It has 1GB RAM, 5-inch (960 × 540 pixels) qHD screen and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) OS with Sense UI on top. Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S5 LTE receive another price cut in India

Samsung has reduced the price of the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S5 LTE smartphones in India once again. The Galaxy S5 got a price cut to Rs. 37,500 few weeks back, now the smartphone is available from the Samsung India eStore for Rs. 34,900. The LTE version of the Galaxy S5 that got a price cut to Rs. 40,300 recently is now available for Rs.36,900. The Galaxy S5 was launched in April in India for Rs. 51,500 and its LTE version was launched in July for Rs. 53,500. Lenovo has introduced Sisley S90, the company’s latest smartphone in the S series in China. It has a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor with Adreno 306 GPU and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with Vibe 2.0 UI on top. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera with 1/3.2-inch sensor ,1.4 micron pixels, and a large f/2.0 aperture.
