The International Data Corporation (IDC) has released their quarterly India smartphone market report for the third quarter of 2021. According to it, the market declined 12% YoY after 4 quarters of continuous growth, shipping a total of 48 million units. The top 5 manufacturers were Xiaomi, Samsung, vivo, realme and OPPO.
TRANSSION India has launched new TECNO Spark 8, the company’s latest budget smartphone in the Spark series, couple of months after the launch of the with the same name. It has a 6.52-inch HD+ 20:9 aspect ratio display, is powered by MediaTek Helio G25 processor with 3GB of RAM, packs a 16-megapixel rear camera along with an AI lens. OnePlus India today announced that it has onboarded its 25 new ambassadors as part of its ongoing fourth edition of OnePlus student ambassador program (SAP). Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL), in partnership with Nokia, announced that it has successfully conducted 5G trial in rural area in Gandhinagar in Gujarat using 3.5GHz spectrum band allocated by the Government for 5G trials. The company trialed providing 5G connectivity across an area covering 17.1 km while delivering speeds of more than 100Mbps. According to a report by Counterpoint Research, the Indian TWS market recorded strong numbers during the third quarter of 2021. The market reportedly grew by 55% YoY in terms of shipments, and the top 5 manufacturers were boAt, realme, Noise, Apple and Boult Audio.
SpaceX, the American aerospace manufacturer, has announced the registration and opening of their India-based subsidiary of Starlink satellite-based internet company. Starlink also revealed their plans to launch nearly 2 lakh active user terminals by the end of 2022 to start operations.
