We already reported that the Huawei Ascend Mate would launch in India priced under Rs. 30,000. The phone has now been priced in India at Rs. 28,900 on online retail website Flipkart. The Ascend Mate has a 6.1-inch 720p display, powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core Hi-Silicon K3V2 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) with Huawei’s EmotionUI 1.5 on top. It is 9.9 mm thick and weighs 198 grams. It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 1-megapixel HD front-facing camera. This update brings new features such as option to move apps to the SD card, Semi-transparent status bar, new Smart Pause toggle in the notification, New camera firmware and lots more. Sony Xperia ZR durable phone that was announced last month is now on pre-order from online retailers Flipkart and Infibeam. It has a 4.55-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) Reality display with mobile Bravia Engine 2 and is powered by 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm APQ 8064 processor with Adreno 320 GPU and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has IP55 and IP58 ratings for dust and water resistance. It packs a 13-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash, Exmor RS sensor for HDR images and offers underwater image and video capture since it is water resistant up to 1.50 meters for up to 30 minutes.

Lenovo plans to launch sub-Rs.5000 smartphones in India

Lenovo has plans to launch devices priced below Rs 5,000 to India, according to a recent report from The Hindu Business Line. The report also says that Lenovo aims to sell 1 million smartphones in India this year. Lenovo entered into the smartphone market in India last year with launch of 5 Android smartphones priced between Rs. 6499 and Rs. 28499. The company launched range of smartphones, A390, A706, S820, P780, S920 and K900 last week priced between Rs. 8689 and Rs. 32999. The reason behind this new move is their shrinking PC business. Lava to launch a new Iris smartphone with gesture user interaction in June

Lava has announced that the company plans to launch a new smartphone under the Iris brand that that can communicate with the user even in signs. Lava says, “This cool feature will allow a user to interact with the phone and use the camera with just a swipe of his hand in the air.” The company says that this would be slimmest in its category and run on the latest version of the Android OS, 4.2 obviously. Now the Wireless Charging Cover and Wireless Charging Pad have been priced on the official Samsung eStore.These accessories have also been unveiled yesterday in the U.S. If you already have a Wireless Charging pad, you can get the Charging Cover separately and replace it with the original back cover. It charges wirelessly via electromagnetic field that follow the Qi standard, the global standard for wireless power. The Wireless Charging Kit (Pad + Cover) also comes as a bundle. Who are the top five smartphone makers in the world? Samsung and Apple would be anyone’s guess. Evidently, because of their dominant presence in the market and ever rising sale figures. LG follows next in ranking. Who do you reckon follows in the 4th spot? Blackberry, Nokia or HTC? Well, its Huawei. The Chinese telecom company is the fourth largest smartphone maker in the world, by units !

Yet, why is it that you and I rarely see a Huawei phone in Indian stores, when shopping for the latest smartphone ? Why is it that the 4th biggest smartphone maker is not visible in one of world’s biggest smartphone market? Huawei hopes to change this brand image, soon. Starting this month, Huawei will begin introducing its star smartphones and tablets, in India. The Chinese phone maker has slotted a bunch of big launches in the next quarter, too.

First up is the Huawei Media Pad 10 Link that was launched in India recently. A 10.1 inch screen tablet priced at just Rupees 24,990/- . The Media Pad 10 runs on 1.2 GHz Quad Core Huawei Hi-Silicon Processor. Operating system is the Android 4.1.

Reliance Jio to increase headcount, reveals 4G plans

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of the Reliance Industries has revealed details about the Reliance Jio and 4G launch plans at the 39th Annual General Meeting in Mumbai today. Last year the company first revealed its plans for 4G. Now the company has revealed that they would increase the Reliance Jio Infocomm team by nearly 10,000 professionals nationally over the next year.
