Xiaomi launched the Mi 5 smartphone in India for Rs. 24,999 last month, which went on sale through flash sale starting from April 6th, along with the 20000mAh Mi Power Bank that went on flash sale at a price of Rs. 1699. Now the company has announced open sale for both the devices on May 4th at 2PM through the mi.com website. Both the variants of the Redmi Note 3 will also go on open sale once again on the same day at 2PM. Xiaomi already shared a teaser of its upcoming Mi Max phablet with a huge 6.4-inch display. Today Xiaomi has officially confirmed that the smartphone will be announced on May 10th. Even though earlier rumors said that it will have a Quad HD screen and will be powered by a Snapdragon 820 SoC, GFXBench listing reveals that it will be a mid-range smartphone with a 1080p screen and will be powered by a Snapdragon 650 SoC, similar to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 3 smartphone in India early last month, which went on sale in the first flash sale starting from March 9th. The smartphone usually sells out in few minutes after the flash sale begins and the 3GB RAM with 32GB storage variant goes on sale rarely. Now Xiaomi India has announced that both the variants will be available through open sale, without registration on April 27th. We already brought you the review of the Redmi Note 3, here are the battery life test results of the Snapdragon 650 version, which is also called the Redmi Note 3 Pro in China. It packs a 4000mAh (minimum) / 4050 (typical) built-in battery, which is larger than the than 3060mAh battery on the Redmi Note 2 and also includes support for fast charging so that you can charge the phone fully in just an hour. Xiaomi leads $25 million funding in Hungama

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has made its first investment in India today by leading a funding of $25 million in Hungama Digital Media Entertainment. The funding round included other existing investors like Intel Capital, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Indian billionaire Rakesh Jhunjhunwala.
