After a leak last week, Xiaomi has officially announced the Redmi Go, the company’s first Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphone in Phillipines officially. It has a 5-inch HD screen, Snapdragon 425 SoC with 1GB of RAM, 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 5-megapixel front camera, 4G LTE with dedicated SIM slots and a 3000mAh battery.
Xiaomi’s MIUI is amongst the most popular Android skins with more than 300 million worldwide users. MIUI is a heavy skin on top of Android skin that offers various customizations but brings a good amount of bloat as well. Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 Pro was amongst the best selling devices launched in 2018 but it runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo) based MIUI 10 as of now. As per an official announcement, Redmi Note 5 Pro is expected to get Android 9.0 (Pie) in Q1 2019 but the public beta testing for the MIUI Global ROM hasn’t started yet.

After rumors, Xiaomi’s first Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphone is all set to be introduced soon starting from Philippines soon, as the company has started teasing it. Xiaomi’s official partner Lazada has listed the phone with complete specifications that reveals a 5-inch HD screen, Snapdragon 425 SoC with 1GB of RAM, 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 5-megapixel front camera, 4G LTE with dedicated SIM slots and a 3000mAh battery.
Xiaomi has launched ShareSave, the company’s new cross-border e-commerce platform starting from India. This will help users outside of China to purchase ecosystem products that have only been available within China. The platform offers a comprehensive selection of the products that are crafted by Xiaomi’s ecosystem companies, including mobile peripherals, smart hardware and lifestyle products.

Redmi 1S, Redmi Note/Prime, Redmi 2/Prime were the devices which redefined their respective price segments back in 2014-15 and helped Xiaomi becoming an established player in India but it was Redmi Note 3 that paved the way towards making company India’s No. 1 smartphone brand. At the Redmi Note 7 launch event last week Xiaomi confirmed that it will launch the Redmi Note 7 Pro soon with Sony IMX586 sensor replacing the Samsung ISOCELL Bright GM1 sensor on the Redmi Note 7. The smartphone is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 675, according to new reports from China. The Redmi Note 7 uses Snapdragon 660. New SoC and camera sensor might bump up the price of the smartphone slightly.

Last year Xiaomi introduced Mi 8 Explorer Edition and later in the year it introduced Mi 8 Pro with pressure-sensitive in-display fingerprint sensor that is 29% faster. This week President Lin Bin shared the next-generation in-display fingerprint on a Mi 8 test unit. Xiaomi introduced MIUI 10 at its Mi 8 launch event back in May last year in China.
