Apple releases COVID-19 community mobility data for cities, regions and countries

Recently, Google released a tool that could track the mobility trends of people in communities, regions and cities from the data it aggregated from Maps. The data is useful for local governments and health authorities to track the spread of the virus and now, Apple has come out with their own Mobility trends report that is based on the data it processed from Apple Maps.

Apple’s next iPhone design said to resemble iPad; smaller HomePod to be released

While Apple is preparing to launch its successor to the iPhone SE shortly, work on Apple’s high-end iPhones are still ongoing. Rumors point to a redesign of some models, having design cues that resemble the iPad or the iPhone 5s. Along with this, Apple’s HomePod is also said to get a design refresh and price cut to compete in the home speaker market.

Apple and Google are collaborating for COVID-19 contact tracing iOS and Android apps, Bluetooth-based platform

Apple and Google have announced a joint effort to enable the use of Bluetooth technology to help governments and health agencies reduce the spread of the virus, with user privacy and security central to the design. Apple Clips update brings mouse and trackpad support, extra editing tools, stickers and more

Apple Clips is a neat little app where users can create unique videos by combining video clips, images, and photos and adding stickers, music, filters and more. In this new update, Apple is adding features like mouse and trackpad support for iPadOS 13.4, extra editing capabilities like duplicate, splitting and more.

Apple releases iOS 13.4.1 and iPadOS 13.4.1 to fix FaceTime bug

Apple released iOS 13.4 and iPadOS 13.4 with new Memoji stickers, Files app iCloud Folder Sharing, Trackpad Support for iPad and more couple of weeks back. Now it has rolled out iOS 13.4.1 and iPadOS 13.4.1 updates to fix FaceTime bug that prevented iOS and iPadOS devices from participating in FaceTime calls with devices running iOS 9.3.6 and earlier or OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 and earlier. It also fixes a bug in the settings app that could cause choosing Bluetooth from the quick actions menu on the Home screen to fail. Apple acquires AI startup Voysis in a bid to improve Siri

Apple’s voice assistant, Siri often falls short in functionality and natural language processing capabilities when compared to the Google Assistant. In a bid to improve Siri’s shortcomings, Apple has decided to acquire Voysis, which is a company that has developed an AI based platform for digital voice assistants to understand natural language.

Apple AirTags hinted in Apple Support YouTube video

Apple’s 2020 4.7-inch iPhone could be called iPhone SE (2020); launch imminent

Dark Sky hyperlocal weather app purchased by Apple; loses Android app

Dark Sky, a very popular hyper-local weather app, has been acquired by Apple for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition will result in a number of changes that include integration of Dark Sky into the iOS native Weather app and removal of the Android app and its APIs.

Apple has increased the price of its iPhones, including its iPhone 11 series, iPhone 8 series, iPhone 7 series and iPhone XR and XS in India after the increase in GST from 12% to 18% on mobile phones starting today, April 1st, 2020. Apple’s 2021 Mac lineup may have ARM-based processors, USB4 support in 2020

For a few years, many analysts have predicted that Apple is working towards releasing an ARM-based version of their popular Mac devices, considering how powerful its ‘A series’ SoCs have become. iOS VPN vulnerability leaves user network traffic exposed

The folks over at ProtonVPN have discovered a vulnerability in iOS 13.4 (exists since 13.3.1) which will prevent VPN’s from encrypting all traffic that is going through the user’s iPhone, causing some internet connections to bypass the VPN server and thus possibly exposing the user to data leaks and attacks.
