2018 iPhones to use Intel modems exclusively, ditching Qualcomm: KGI

Rumors about the 2018 iPhone models keep growing head of the official announcement later this year, thanks to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities. Back in November last year he said that the 2018 iPhone models will come with a faster Intel XMM 7560 modem and Qualcomm SDX 20 LTE Cat. 18 Modem with support for 4×4 MIMO technology.  He has also said that 70%-80% of the modem chips for 2018 iPhone models will come from Intel and the remaining will use Qualcomm modems. Apple iPhone, Apple Watch get a price hike in India after increase in import duty

As the Indian government at the Union Budget 2018-19 announced an increase in import duty on mobile phones from 15% to 20% last week, Apple has increased the price of its iPhones, including its iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X smartphones as well as Apple Watch models in the country. This is the second price hike in less than 2 months after a recent price hike in December when the duty was increased from 10% to 15% in the country. Apple investigating iPhone X incoming calls delay glitch

Some users of the iPhone X took it to the Apple support community, Twitter, and Reddit to complain about a glitch that is causing a delay in the incoming calls. Apple acknowledges iPhone 7 ‘No Service’ issue, launches repair program

Apple has acknowledged that a small percentage of iPhone 7 models are affected by ‘No Service’ issue and has announced a repair program for the models affected by the issue. Apple reports record $20.1 billion profit on $88.3 billion revenue in FY Q1 2018, 77.3 million iPhones sold

Apple has reported all-time record quarterly revenue of $88.3 billion, up 13% over last year with a all-time record net profit of $20.1 billion in their earnings for the financial year Q4 2018 that ended December 30, 2017. Apple reported quarterly earnings per diluted share of $3.89, up 16% from a year ago, also an all-time record. During earnings call Tim Cook said that the growth was broad-based and a key driver was iPhone, which generated its highest revenue ever. Apple confirms US govt inquiries over throttling aged iPhones

Apple today confirmed that it had received inquiries from U.S govt agencies over a software update that is slowed down aged iPhones’ performance and also clarified that it is responding to them. According to the sources, the U.S. Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission are said to be investigating Apple to see whether it has violated any securities laws concerning its disclosures. iOS 11.3 to bring new Animoji, Health records, Battery status, ARKit Improvements and more

Apple today announced iOS 11.3 and previewed some of its features. The update will bring four new Animoji – lion, bear, dragon and skull for the iPhone X, ARKit 1.5 to developers to offer even more immersive AR experiences to recognize and place virtual objects on vertical surfaces like walls and doors, and more accurately map irregularly shaped surfaces like circular tables for next-generation AR apps.

Apple introduced its first Siri-powered smart speaker HomePod at WWDC 2017 back in June last year. At that time the company said that it will ship the device starting in December in Australia, the UK and the US, later it was pushed to early 2018.
