Microsoft said to acquire Swiftkey for $250 million

Microsoft has acquired popular third party keyboard app Swiftkey for $250 million, according to a latest report from the Financial Times. Swiftkey specializes in predictive typing which is powered by artificial intelligence.

WhatsApp Messenger crosses 1 billion user mark

WhatsApp has joined the billion users club. The Facebook owned messaging service now has over 1 billion monthly active users which translates to one in seven people on Earth. WhatsApp co-founder and CEO Jan Koum announced the latest milestone via an official post on Facebook.

Microsoft Office brings real-time co-authoring for Box and Outlook.com

SwiftKey Keyboard 6.2 brings new emojis for Android 6.0.1

SwiftKey has added support for all the new 184 emojis for devices running on Android 6.0.1 in the latest version 6.2 update. These emojis include, volleyball, taco, middle finger, champagne bottle, as well as new faces for sickness, thinking, and rolling eyes. Facebook expands Live Video streaming to all iPhone users

Facebook started testing the live video feature on their iPhone app last month. Now the social network has announced that it is expanding the feature to all iPhone users. In order to share a live video, you will have to tap on Update Status and then select the Live Video icon.

Facebook is shutting down its Parse mobile developer platform

Facebook is pulling the plug on Parse, its mobile developer platform. Acquired in 2013, Parse helped small mobile developers build apps using Facebook-owned tools and servers. The social network is killing the service on January 28, 2017.

Opera has updated its Opera Mini app for Android to version 14 that brings better language support, with 90 languages to choose from. This includes 13 Indian languages – Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. In addition to the improved language support, Opera Mini for Android also gets a QR- code reader and generator and an improved download manager.
