Microsoft has officially confirmed that it is shutting down Project Astoria tool that allowed developers to port their existing Android apps to Windows 10 easily. The company had announced its plans to launch tools for developers to quickly port Android and iOS apps to Windows 10 earlier this April.

Microsoft has partnered with Acer to pre-load productivity apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, OneDrive and Skype on select Android smartphones and tablets from Acer. The company said that it will start the pre-installing the apps from second half of 2016.
Microsoft has scooped up Groove music player iOS app for an undisclosed sum. The Groove app is developed by a Montreal-based startup, Zikera. As a result of the acquisition, Groove will no longer be available for download.
