Airtel plans to inject Rs. 20,000 Crore into NBFC unit

Bharti Airtel has announced plans for its Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC), Airtel Money Limited, aimed at expanding access to digital credit in India. The NBFC will be capitalised with ₹20,000 crore over the next few years, with 70% contributed by Airtel and the remaining 30% by the promoter group via Bharti Enterprises Limited. Bharti Airtel to apply for Bank Payment license

Bharti Airtel Limited has announced that it will apply for payments bank license. The company is seeking to convert its existing Prepaid Payment Instrument license into a payments bank license to be issued by the Reserve Bank of India.

Airtel Money – Mobile Payment Service now available across India


Airtel has expanded its Airtel Money, Mobile Payment Service that is now available in 300+ key cities across India. This enables the Airtel Money users load cash on their mobile devices and spend it to pay utility bills and recharges, shop at 7,000+ merchant outlets, transact online etc. They launched the Airtel Money services last year starting with Delhi NCR and expanded it to Chennai in May 2011. Airtel launches Airtel Money in Chennai

Airtel has launched its mCommerce service – Airtel Money, in Chennai, after the launch in Guragon this January. This lets the Airtel customers to make cashless payment using their mobile phone. Airtel has tied up with 750 merchants across Chennai including, Oriental Cuisines (Benjarong, Zara, Cascade and French Loaf), Univercell, Poorvika, Inox, PVR, Bharti AXA, LIC and more.
