Adobe AIR 14 brings Intel x86 Android support and Gamepad API

Adobe has released a major update to its web media player and runtime platform. It has rolled out Adobe Flash Player 14.0 and Adobe AIR 14.0. The version 14 of the AIR runtime has been updated with support for Intel x86 Android devices along with Gamepad support for web games as it promised recently. John Nack leaves Adobe to join Google’s Photography team

Google is working on its photography suite seriously and it was pretty evident after the Mountain View company acquired Snapseed photo editing app. In the latest move to strength its photography team, Google has pocketed Adobe’s John Nack.

John Nack has been associated with Adobe and one of its primary offering – Adobe Photoshop. John Nack was the Senior Product Manager for Adobe Photoshop. He had been associated with Adobe for 14 years and was the man to lead the company’s first public beta – CS3. Apart from that, he was also responsible for features inside Photoshop like Smart Objects.

In a blog post at Adobe’s website, John Nack bid his former company a adieu and hopes for a great experience at Google. He also said that the two companies have been in good terms and are working to make the best for photographers to tell their tales.

Adobe Flash Player v11.1 and AIR 3.1 for Android brings performance improvements and bug fixes

Adobe Flash Player for Android has been updated to version 11.1.102.59 and the Adobe AIR gets updated to version 3.1.0.488 that brings performance improvements and bug fixes related to security and stability. Adobe announced earlier this week that they would stop the Flash Player development for the mobile phones and tablets. This might be the last update for the Android with the improvements and security bug fixes. The earlier versions of the Flash Player and AIR  brought 3D game support, premium video content with protection and more. Adobe stopping development on Flash Player for mobile browsers

If you are big fan of Adobe Flash Player on your Android phone or BlackBerry Playbook  , bad news ! Adobe has announced that it is stopping development of Flash Player for mobile browsers and mobile devices. It will however provide critical bug fixes and security updates.  This info comes from ZDNET who got early access to this announcement from Adobe. Looks like Adobe is increasing investment in HTML5 and shying away from Flash player on the mobile browser.
