Airtel today announced that it will offer free data for 12 months, worth up to Rs. 9000, to customers who switch to Airtel 4G. “Any customer, including existing Airtel customers, upgrading to a new 4G handset can also avail this offer,” said the company.

Google Play had launched carrier billing for Idea customers in India in May last year. Now, it has expanded the service to Airtel as well as Vodafone. Airtel has launched 4G LTE services in Assam starting with Dibrugarh & Tinsukia. 4G will be offered using 2300 MHz (TD LTE) band and is available through mobile phones, 4G hotspots and dongles in these towns. Airtel said that in the coming weeks FD LTE in 1800 MHz band will also be launched in the circle.

Airtel has launched 4G LTE services in Durgapur, West Bengal. It is using dual spectrum bands of 2300 MHz (TD LTE) and 1800 MHz (FD LTE) bands and the company has deployed Carrier Aggregation (4G-Advanced) technology, which promises data speeds of up to 135 Mbps on compatible handsets.
