Airtel rolls out ‘Dual Carrier’ technology in Bihar & Jharkhand for 4G-like data speeds on 3G

After Delhi-NCR and Rajasthan Airtel has rolled an upgraded mobile network in Bihar & Jharkhand. The ‘Dual Carrier’ technology combines the spectrum capacities of two 5MHz carriers in the 2100 MHz band that significantly boosts network capacity through highly efficient usage, and promises a superior mobile experience in the form of faster data speeds, better voice quality, and improved network coverage – indoors and outdoors.

Airtel also said that it is the first mobile operator to deploy Dual Carrier technology in Bihar & Jharkhand. “With ‘Dual Carrier’ technology deployment, customers will be able to enjoy 4G like data speeds even when they are on the 3G, said Airtel. However it doesn’t say the maximum speed that can be achieved.

Airtel already has ‘Carrier Aggregation’ technology in several circles that combines capacities of spectrum in 2300 MHz (TD-LTE) and 1800 MHz (FD-LTE) for data speeds up to 135 Mbps with compatible handsets.

Commenting on the roll out of new ‘Dual Carrier’ technology in the circle, Ritesh Singh, CEO – Bihar and Jharkhand, Bharti Airtel said:

We would like to thank our customers for their cooperation during the network upgrade and invite them to experience our network.
