Tata Communications announced the successful deployment of its digital infrastructure solutions to enable Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited’s (BSNL) newly launched eSIM services for millions of subscribers across India.
Tata Communications MOVE
The services are powered by Tata Communications MOVE™, a GSMA-accredited eSIM Subscription Management platform, delivered by Tata Communications Collaboration Services Private Ltd. (TCCSPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Communications Ltd. This platform allows BSNL to provision eSIMs for mobile subscribers nationwide, enabling secure and efficient digital SIM activation.
BSNL’s eSIM launch enhances mobile connectivity by allowing remote activation of 2G, 3G, and 4G services via a secure QR code, eliminating the need for a physical SIM. Devices with dual-SIM capability can use an eSIM alongside a traditional SIM, making it easier to connect securely with local operators while travelling internationally.
This initiative aligns with Tata Communications’ commitment to supporting Digital India. While the rollout currently focuses on consumer services, the MOVE™ platform is designed to scale for enterprise IoT applications, facilitating digital transformation for Indian businesses.
Commenting on the launch, A.S. Lakshminarayanan, MD and CEO, Tata Communications, said:
We are honoured to partner with BSNL to bring secure, scalable, and future-ready eSIM services to millions of citizens and facilitating India’s shift towards next-generation connectivity. This collaboration reflects Tata Communications’ commitment to driving digital innovation and supporting sovereign infrastructure. Together, we are laying the foundation for a more connected and resilient India.
Speaking about the launch, A. Robert Ravi, Chairman and Managing Director, BSNL, said:
The launch of Pan-India eSIM service represents a strategic advancement in our national telecom capabilities. With Tata Communications’ strong connectivity experience and forward-looking innovation, we are improving the flexibility, security, and efficiency of mobile services for citizens across India. It aligns with our commitment to fostering digital independence and ensuring robust infrastructure for the future.
