Ericsson sues Micromax for Rs. 100 Crores over patent infringement

Ericsson, world’s biggest telecom network equipment maker has sued Micromax over patent infringement regarding wireless technology standards such as GSM, EDGE and 3G, according to a report from Economic Times. Ericsson is calming over Rs 100 crore in damages since Micromax has refused to sign necessary licences for products compliant with the GSM, EDGE, and UMTS/WCDMA standards, after three years of negotiations failed. Will Google start selling the Nexus 4 in India soon ?

In an interesting development , Google has listed the Nexus 7 up for sale on the Google Play India store just minutes ago.  This is the first time Google is directly selling a device in India to a customer through its Play store. This might be  a sign of things to come. The Nexus 4 is also hidden on the store but the page says that ” it is not available in your country ” . There has been a lot of speculation about the Nexus 4 launching in India ever since Google started selling one of the most affordable Android 4.2 powered in the US market.

Google Play Store India now sells the 16 GB Nexus 7 for a price of Rs. 15,999

It has been a while since we saw the Google Nexus 7 *officially* launch in India for Rs. 19,999/- but now, out of the blue, we have got the devices page on the Indian Google Play Store selling the Nexus 7 directly for Rs. 15,999 for the 16 GB version. Earlier, it was Croma, the Tata retailer that was selling it, but looks like we are finally seeing Google directly selling the device.

Google Nexus 4 Wireless Charger Unboxing and Hands on

If we remember right, Google launched the Nexus 4 along with a cool Wireless charger called the Charging Orb, but it never arrived until a couple of weeks back, when it finally came up on the Google Play Store. The Nexus 4 Wireless Charger, as it is called, is made by LG, just like the Nexus 4 itself. The device resembles a lot like the Nexus Q cut in half, suggesting Google’s influence in its design. We took it for a spin in our labs, and this video below is what happened when we unboxed it and gave a demo –

Cleartrip released their first Android app back in December, but it was not as impressive as their iPhone app. The new Cleartrip 2.0 has been built from ground up based on the Android design and development guidelines and brings lots of new features including a redesigned user interface (UI),Smart Home page, Split Screen Search, offline support and lots more new features. Asus Padfone Infinity launching in Taiwan this week


Asus Padfone Infinity that was announced last month in MWC 2013 would be launched in Taiwan on 26th March, according to a recent report from Central News Agency. The Padfone Infinity is the third device in the Padfone series, which follows the similar design as the first two Padfone devices. It lets you dock the phone in the Padfone station, which can be docked in a keyboard. The Padfone Infinity packs a 5-inch Full HD (1920×1080 pixels) IPS display, powered by 1.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor with Adreno 320 GPU and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). HDFC Bank launches mobile banking app for Windows Phone

The official app from HDFC Bank for Windows Phone just went live on the Windows Phone store. The app looks pretty similar to applications on other platforms from the bank.You can transfer money even to other bank accounts through NEFT.  You can pay your bills and manage your account like with any regular mobile banking app. You can even manage  your demat account, mutual funds and credit card. Apple acquires WiFiSLAM indoor-GPS mapping company for $20 million

In a bid to strength its mapping application and positioning technology portfolio, Apple has acquired WiFiSLAM. The Silicon Valley startup has been working on improving on and facilitating indoor navigation using Wi-Fi triangulation as opposed to the GPS based system in place as of now.

Asus PadFone 2 gets minor software update – improves stability , camera and WiFi performance

Asus is one of the best handset makers to provide timely updates for its Android phones. They launched the PadFone 2 last year with Android 4.0  ICS on board and rolled out an update to Android 4.1 JellyBean last year.Now the PadFone 2 has got a rather minor software update which is expected to make the already awesome PadFone 2 even more stable. There seem to be improvements in overall stability , camera , WiFi and battery life according to the official change log which you can find below.

Celkon has launched the A119 Signature HD, the company’s latest flagship Android smartphone. This is the first phone in the new Signature series. It has a 5 inch (1280 x 720 pixels) touch screen display, powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It comes with a 12-megapixel auto focus camera on the back and a 3-megapixel front-facing camera. It has dual SIM support with dual standby. This would compete with the Xolo A1000 that was launched last month, which comes with similar features.

We unboxed the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini (GT-I8190) earlier this week. Here we have the benchmarks of the device. The Galaxy S3 mini was announced back in October 2012. It is powered by a dual-core NovaThor U8420 chip clocked at 1 GHz and has a Mali-400 GPU. It has a 4.0-inch (480×800 pixels ) Super AMOLED display at 223 ppi pixel density. Let’s see how the phone performance in the benchmark tests.

Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus now available in India for Rs. 22,900


Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus is now on sale exclusively from online retailer Infibeam in India. It was announced earlier this year and packs a  4.3-inch (800 x 480 Pixels) Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touch screen display similar to the Galaxy S2, but it is powered by a  1.2 GHz dual-core Broadcom BCM28155 processor instead of dual-core Exynos chip in the Galaxy S2. It runs on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) out of the box and has a 8MP auto focus camera with LED flash, zero shutter lag and a 2MP HD front-facing camera.
