U.S. Department of Defense adds Xiaomi to blacklist of Chinese Military companies

In a major blow to the company, the United States Department of Defense (DOD) has added Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi to a blacklist of companies that allegedly are controlled by the Chinese Military. In response, Xiaomi has strongly objected to these claims and denied having connections with the Chinese military.

NETGEAR Nighthawk RAXE500 Tri-Band Wi-Fi Router with WiFi 6E support announced

NETGEAR, a popular manufacturer of networking products, has announced the launch of their first ever Wi-Fi 6E router, called the Nighthawk RAXE500 Tri-band Wi-Fi Router. Along with it, they also announced the Nighthawk 4G LTE Wi-Fi 6 Router, the LM1200 4G LTE Modem and the WAX214 and WAX218 APs.

Samsung Galaxy SmartTag helps keep track of keys and other objects

Along with the Galaxy S21 series and the Galaxy Buds Pro, Samsung also announced the launch of the Galaxy SmartTag at its Galaxy Unpacked 2021 event. The small device is essentially Bluetooth-enabled location tracker that is battery powered and can be used to track small objects like keyrings, etc., similar to Tile trackers.

Samsung has made a number of improvements over the previous generation, the most notable one being the addition of active noise cancellation (ANC), along with improved sound and call quality, and enhanced connectivity between Galaxy devices.

WhatsApp clarifies its data sharing and privacy policy after public backlash

A couple of days ago, WhatsApp updated their terms of service and privacy policy, forcing their users to accept it before the 8th of February. After receiving a lot of backlash and losing a lot of users to Telegram and Signal, WhatsApp has posted a new FAQ detailing what information is not collected and not shared with its parent company, Facebook.

LG announces native support for Google Stadia game streaming app for webOS smart TVs

LG will soon become the first TV manufacturer outside of Google TV to natively support Google’s Stadia game streaming service on its webOS TV platform. The service will become available to webOS TV users as an app later in the year, with support for 4K resolution and 5.1 channel surround sound.
