A total of 1.06 million tablets including slate and detachables have been shipped in India in CY Q3 2016 remaining stagnant over the same period last year, according to International Data Corporation (IDC). The total tablet shipments grew 7.8 percent in Q3 2016 over Q2 2016.

Samsung has announced Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016) with S Pen, a new tablet in the Galaxy A series in Korea. It introduced Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016). This has almost similar specifications as the Tab A (2016), but this packs comes with S Pen Stylus and features, including translation, quick notes and more that are available in the Galaxy Note7. Amazon has introduced a new Fire HD 8 tablet in the US. It has the same 8-inch (1280×800 pixels) IPS display, but this has more storage with 16GB and 32GB options, 1.5GB of RAM and also promises up to 12 hours of battery life. It also brings support for Alexa its own cloud-based voice service that lets you play music, launch games, read audiobooks, and more through voice commands.
