Global mobile device shipment to surpass 2.4 billion in 2015, tablets to overtake PC: Gartner

Worldwide combined shipments of devices like PCs, tablets, ultra mobiles and mobile phones are projected to reach 2.4 billion units in 2014, a 4.2 percent increase from 2013, according to Gartner. The research firm further stated that 321 million tablets and will ship worldwide, up from 256 million in 2014.

Flipkart Digiflip Pro XT 712 Benchmarks

Flipkart launched its first tablet Digiflip Pro XT 712 under its own brand last month. We brought you the unboxing of the tablet last week, here we have the benchmarks of the tablet. Unlike most other tablets powered by a MT6582 processor, this one has a MediaTek MT8382 SoC with 500 MHz Mali 400-MP2 GPU. It has a 7-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) multi touch IPS display. It packs 1GB RAM and runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) OS. Check out the synthetic benchmark scores below.

LG G Pad 10.1 global roll out begins, coming to US, Europe, Asia and more markets this month

LG unveiled the G Pad 7.0, G Pad 8.0 and G Pad 10.1 in the G Pad series back in May. The LG G Pad 7.0 went on sale starting from Europe last month. Today the company has announced that the G Pad 10.1 would roll out globally starting from this month. The G Pad 10.1 has a 10.1-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) WXGA IPS display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with a new flat UI. 50000 Xiaomi MiPad units sold in 3 Minutes 59 Seconds on launch day

Xiaomi the famous Chinese phone maker had announced its plans to enter the tablet market with the Mi Pad back in May and looks like the tablet has gone on sale recently. A post on the official company forum says that Xiaomi sold 50000 units of the MiPad tablet on launch day thereby running out of stocks. Continue reading for some more breathtaking news. The 50,000 MiPads were sold out in just 3 minutes and 59 seconds. There is no mention about the location but we place our bets on China as it is the home market for handset maker which is now headed my Ex-Googler Hugo Barra. Priced aggressively at about 240 USD / Rs.14400 for the base 16GB version , the company is clearly taking on the Apple iPad Mini with its first tablet.

Flipkart was rumored to be launching a smartphone, but they dropped that plan and now, have launched a tablet under Rs. 10,000. The Flipkart Digiflip Pro XT 712 comes with a MediaTek SoC and 7inch HD display along with voice calling. Flipkart has decided to do what other manufacturers have been doing for a while – get a product from China, rebrand it and sell it in India. Flipkart has a lot of reach and it hopes to sell its tablet because of its big customer network.

NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet with LTE revealed in certification

NVIDIA launched the SHIELD gaming console last year. It also launched its Tegra Note tablets manufactured by several vendors last year. Now the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet has been certified on Global Certification Forum or GCF. Last month it surfaced on the official NVIDIA Tegra Zone and also surfaced on FCC. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 that were announced couple of weeks back comes with a 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch Super AMOLED displays at high WQXGA resolution, Android 4.4 (KitKat) and have Adaptive Display. These have 6.6mm slim profile.
