MapmyIndia, popular for its navigation and location-based services has launched the Explore app for Windows Phone devices that lets you find useful places of interest like ATMs, restaurants, petrol pumps, hospitals and more across India. It also lets you pin favorite hangouts, rate and review popular places around your location and follow other Explorers. Once you follow someone, you can see the activity feed of what others are doing on Explore. The app is powered by MapmyIndia maps. MapmyIndia has promised that the app would be available for Android devices soon. Vodafone India launches new My Vodafone app for Android, iOS and BlackBerry

Vodafone India has launched a new My Vodafone self service app for iOS, Android and Blackberry platforms. This lets you pay phone bills, recharge prepaid account, track service requests, subscribe to the best offers and more. The app allows real-time integration with Vodafone systems to access several information such as billing, recharge and data consumption. This works both on GPRS and 3G and also on Wi-Fi (Registration requires Vodafone Data Connectivity).

Even though the app has been available for the past few months, the updated version 2.0 app brings a lot of new features several improvements that makes it faster.

Speaking about the app, Vivek Mathur, Chief Commercial Officer, Vodafone India, said

As customers evolve they will increasingly seek self-service. An easily accessible and user friendly portal is essential in this context. We believe ‘My Vodafone’ app will help our customers track daily usage and empower them in line with our proposition of ‘POWER TO YOU’.

LinkedIn acquired Pulse, a news reader app back in April, and this is the first major update after the acquisition. LINE, a cross-platform messaging app from a Japanese Internet Company was officially launched in India back in July. The app has received a major update for iPhone and Android to version 3.9, that brings a lot of new features including option to make and receive video calls, Albums feature that lets you create and edit photo albums with a friend or in groups and more. The iPhone app has Snap Movie function to add BGM to short videos and send them to your friends.

BBM for Android and iPhone not coming this week, says BBM head

BlackBerry Messenger for Android was supposed to go live last week, but the launch was paused after the issues caused by leaked the Android APK. BlackBerry announced a couple of days back that they have paused the roll out since the leaked APK brought 1.1 million active users in the first 8 hours, even before the official release that created several issues when they were about to release these apps officially. We even tried out BBM for iPhone that went live briefly on Saturday in the New Zealand app store. Later it was pulled. It lets you manage airtel mobile, broadband & digital tv connections, pay outstanding bills, recharge pre-paid accounts, activate or deactivate any service, raise requests-complaints and more. This only works  on a registered alternate contact number for airtel broadband and digital tv users.
