Smartwatches may have initially been considered a passing fad when Sony originally announced the Smartwatch range and Samsung introduced the Galaxy Gear last year but over the past twelve months, we’ve seen many manufacturers announce smartwatches; from multiple new Samsung Gears to smartwatches from LG, Asus, Motorola, Huawei and Microsoft there’s a lot of competition. LG G Watch R Unboxing

LG introduced the G Watch R, the company’s second Android Wear smartwatch and the successor of the G Watch ahead of IFA. It is the second Android Wear smartwatch with a circular display after the Motorola Moto 360. It went on sale in the U.S. on Google Play recently, priced at $299. ASUS ZenWatch lands on the US Google Play Store for $199

ASUS introduced the ZenWatch, the company’s first smartwatch based on Android Wear platform at the IFA back in September. Now the smartwatch is available in the U.S. through Google Play and Best Buy, priced at $199.99 (Rs. 12,350 approx), cheaper than both the Moto 360 and the LG G Watch R. Samsung launched Gear S (SM-R750), the company’s first smartwatch based on Tizen Wearable platform in India priced at Rs. 27,900. It has SIM support and lets you make or receive calls directly without connecting it to a smartphone. You can even connect it to a smartphone to receive notifications from it. Samsung Gear S goes on sale in India for Rs. 27900

Samsung launched its Gear S Smartwatch in India last month for Rs. 28,900. Samsung started taking pre-orders for the Gear S earlier this week. Now the smartwatch with a built-in SIM card slot is available for purchase from the their official eStore for Rs. 27,900, which is Rs. 1,000 cheaper compared to the launch price. The Gear S has a 2-inch (360 x 480 pixels) curved Super AMOLED display, comes with a 1GHz dual-core processor and enables you to independently make and receive calls, without connecting to a device and also offers 3G support. Samsung Gear Live Review

Samsung was one of the first consumer electronics giants to dive head-first into the world of wearables with its own line of Smartwatches, starting with the Gear. The original Gear that initially ran on Android, now runs on Tizen, and Samsung’s already iterated on it a couple of times, with the Gear 2, the Gear Fit, the new Gear S, all variations and experiments on the hot new market.

But then Android Wear happened, with Samsung announced as one of the partners. Rival LG had already announced its first Watch, but Samsung waited until IO to announce their first smartwatch that will work across all Android devices, not just Samsung ones, the Gear Live. The Gear Live, the stripped down Android variant of the Gear 2, joins the other Wear watches, in the effort to appeal to consumers willing to invest in a new category of devices. With Android Wear as the platform of choice, does the hardware push the boundaries, or does it play a safe losing game? Let’s find out.

Samsung Gear S launches in the UK on November 7

Tired of having your smartwatch linked to your phone and waiting for the Samsung Gear S to land in the UK? The wait is almost over as Samsung have announced that the Gear S will be launching in the UK this Friday. Samsung Experience Stores and network partner O2 will both be offering the smartwatch which runs on Samsung’s own proprietary platform and is only compatible with Samsung Galaxy handsets.

Fitbit has introduced three new fitness products, the Fitbit Surge smartwatch with a large LCD Touch screen display, new Charge and Charge HR fitness bands. All these offer wireless syncing, automatic sleep tracking, silent alarm and of course, activity tracking. The Fitbit Surge and Charge HR devices offer continuous and automatic wrist-based PurePulse heart rate monitoring. The PurePulse uses safe LED lights to detect blood volume changes right on the wrist to deliver heart rate monitoring 24/7. Google has announced a new Android Wear update that would make use of GPS in the Sony SmartWatch 3 and also brings offline music playback in all the Android Wear watches. Sony SmartWatch 3 up for pre-order in the US for $249.99, shipping October-end

Sony introduced the SmartWatch 3, the company’s first Android Wear-powered smartwatch at the IFA last month. At the announcement Sony just said that it would go on sale later in Autumn 2014 without any price tag. Now the company started taking pre-orders for the smartwatch  at Verizon Wireless in the U.S, which would ship by October 30th. It is priced at $249.99 ( Rs. 15,299 approx.).
