Update: August 1, 2019 — Ather today confirmed that the Ather 450 will cost Rs. 1,22,224 on road in Chennai after GST revision from 12% to 5% on electric vehicles that comes in effect from today. In Bengaluru it will cost Rs. 1,13,715.

Ather Energy, the Bengaluru based company known for its range of electric scooters has been gradually expanding its presence in the country, with Chennai being the second city after Bengaluru. Today, the company raised an investment of $51 million in its latest round of funding, led by Flipkart’s co-founder Sachin Bansal’s investment of $32 million.
Ather Energy introduced its range of ‘Made in India’ electric scooters last year in India. The company debuted its launch in Bengaluru and promised to expand to many cities gradually. As promised, Ather Energy has started its work to launch the electric scooters in Chennai and has begun installing Ather Grid charging points across the cities. Ather Energy has launched its ‘Made in India’ smart electric scooter in two models – 340 and 450. The company has also started pre-bookings for the scooters in Bengaluru on Ather’s website and experience centre, AtherSpace at Indiranagar will open for test rides on Friday, 8th June, as it had promised last month. Ather Energy, introduced S340 as the first ‘Made in India’ smart electric scooter couple of years back. Today, the company has finally announced that after 4 years, 55 prototypes, 50,000 km in on-road testing and over a million man hours, the S340 is finally ready for commercial production, which is expected to start in July, and the trial production has already begun. Earlier this year the company started receiving pre-production components from its 100+ suppliers and vendors and it also set up an assembly line in Whitefield, Bengaluru.
Ather Energy has introduced S340, a smart electric scooter that is ‘Made in India’. It is powered by a Lithium Ion battery and offers a top speed of 72 kmph and a range upto 60 kms.
