Aircel has partnered with Micromax to launch Canvas Beat, a new music smartphone. It went on sale recently as Canvas Beat A114R and packs a 5-inch (960 x 540 pixels) IPS display, powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core Broadcom BCM23550 processor with Vidcore IV GPU and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It comes with dual SIM support, similar to other Canvas smartphones.
Google is adding a new feature to its mobile apps on Android and iPhone that will let users discover new places. Dubbed as ‘Explore’ the feature offers users about important and happening places nearby their destination.

Gionee has released the Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) update for the Elife E7 mini in India. The company rolled out KitKat update for the Elife S5.5 and CTRL V5 smartphones in India earlier this month. Unlike the OTA update for those phones, update for the Elife E7 mini needs to be installed via flash tools. The Elife E7 mini went on sale in India back in April running Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean), and the KitKat update brings revamped user interface, enhanced features like an updated Amigo paper and game zone, wallpapers application, improved security and more. Google has started rolling out Material Design UI to Play Store. The version 4.9.13. of the Google Play Store on Android now gets Material Design inspired overhaul which gives app, game, and other listings a revamp. The update comes a week after screenshots of the Play Store redesign were leaked.
