Recently I was invited to Reliance Jio headquarters in Mumbai.I have been following the technology scene in India for the past 12 years and I genuinely got excited when I started to hear about the plans Reliance Jio has for the India market. It is not only about the High Speed 4G network being deployed but also the fact that 4G smartphones have become so affordable unlike few years back when 4G was restricted to expensive smartphones. When Reliance announced the Jio Preview offer earlier this year in May along with the purchase of a Lyf device, I decided to buy one without any hesitation. Rcom 4G VoLTE-enabled home phone with WiFi hotspot, Android launched

Reliance Communications (Rcom) has introduced India’s first 4G VoLTE-enabled home phone that has a built-in SIM slot that connects to devices wireless. It runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop), has a 3.5-inch touch screen and lets you use it as a WiFi hotspot to connect to 8 other devices. Vodafone to roll out 4G services in 2400 towns across 8 new circles by March 2017

After launching 4G services across 9 circles – Mumbai, Delhi & NCR, Kolkata, Karnataka, Kerala, Haryana, Gujarat, UP (East) and West Bengal, Vodafone today announced that it will launch 4G services in 8 more circles – Assam & North East, Maharashtra & Goa, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu (including Chennai) and UP (W) in 2,400 towns by March 2017. Airtel launches 4G LTE services in Uttar Pradesh

Airtel has launched 4G LTE services in 13 Major towns in Uttar Pradesh (UP) starting with Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Allahabad, Agra, Aligarh, Bulandshahar, Hapur, Mathura, Modinagar, Muzzafarnagar & Meerut. 4G will be offered using spectrum band of 1800 MHz (FD LTE and is available through mobile phones, 4G hotspots and dongles in these towns. Airtel, Vodafone and Idea expected to launch VoLTE services soon to take on Reliance Jio

Reliance Jio officially launched pan-India 4G LTE services with VoLTE (Voice Over LTE) support and free voice calls in September. Now Airtel has signed a $60 million (Rs. 402 crore) pan-India deal with Nokia to implement VoLTE calling technology, according to a report from ET Telecom. Airtel launches new 10-day International Roaming packs with data and free incoming calls

Airtel launched International roaming packs for postpaid customers with data, free India calling minutes, free incoming calls and free texts to India in September with 1 day and 30 days validity last month. Today it has launched packs with 10 days validity that will be useful for customers who go for a short trip to popular destinations such as Singapore, Thailand, US/Canada, UK, and UAE. TRAI recommends Rs. 3050 crore penalty on Airtel, Vodafone and Idea for denial of interconnection to Reliance Jio

Reliance Jio had filed several complaints with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) against incumbent operators who failed to provide sufficient POIs to Jio. Yesterday TRAI in separate letters to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) secretary, has recommended a total penalty of Rs. 3050 core on Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular in circles where the point of interconnect (PoI) congestion exceeded the permissible limit of 0.5%. Reliance Jio 4G speed slowest shows TRAI data, Jio says tests performed after FUP

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) recently launched MySpeed app to measure and upload internet speeds. It also launched Analytics Portal to show users in detail about network coverage, data speed in their area and Quality of Service (QoS) of their telecom operators. The data on the portal shows that Reliance Jio’s 4G data speed is the slowest among top operators in the country. Vodafone India creates new Guinness World Record with largest paper recharge voucher

Vodafone India has created a 62 ft 5.5 inch by 40ft 1 inch (2503.53 sq ft or 232.32 sq mtr) paper recharge voucher in Agra. The telecom operator has created a Guinness World Record with this initiative.

Airtel V-Fiber broadband plans

Airtel today launched ‘V-Fiber’ broadband based on Vectorization in Chennai that offers speeds of up to 100 Mbps. Airtel already said that it will be offering ‘V-Fiber’ for all its existing broadband customers at no extra monthly cost and requires only modem change, which costs Rs. 1000. Now it has provided monthly plans that start at Rs. 999 for 50GB FUP limit and goes up to Rs. 4999 for 1TB FUP.
