Idea introduces new packs with free incoming calls on national roaming
Idea Cellular has launched new roaming packs that would let you enjoy free incoming calls while roaming nationally. Airtel launched national roaming packs yesterday starting at Rs. 5/day. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) reduced the limit for national roaming tariff for calls and SMS last month. Videocon made incoming calls free back in March without any processing fee or a special tariff vouchers. Other operators are expected to announce free national roaming plans soon. Idea Cellular has launched two new offers, Choice Recharge and Choice Number in Maharashtra & Goa circle. The company already introduced the Choice Recharge offer in Tamil Nadu that lets you choose Idea to Idea Calling, SMS, Local Mobile Minutes and Internet offers with a single pack. The Choice Number offer would let new subscribers in Maharashtra & Goa to opt for a number of their choice when they connect with the Idea network in the circle. Idea offers free Facebook Messenger access for prepaid customers for 3 months
Idea Cellular has partnered with Facebook to offer free access to Facebook Messenger for prepaid users for a period of 3 months. Earlier this year Airtel offered free Facebook access for their prepaid customers for 1 month. This would let the customers enjoy Facebook Messenger access with up to 200MB of free monthly usage. Now Idea too reduces 2G data rates
Idea Cellular has also reduced 2G data rates followed by Airtel and Vodafone. Idea Cellular has reduced 2G data rates by 90% across 8 circles. Earlier this week Vodafone announced the reduction of 2G data rates for the Pay as you Go (PAYG) users down to 2p/10KB from the previous rate of 10p/10KB, later Airtel announced the reduction of 2G data rates by 90% for pre-paid customers in Punjab and Haryana. No new 3G subscribers have been added in the intra-circle roaming areas, says Idea
The Delhi High Court issued notice against Idea Cellular for allegedly not complying with its earlier orders on 3G roaming. Idea Cellular has issued a statement regarding this saying that they have not added new 3G subscribers have been added in the 3G Seeker Service Areas as per its compliance affidavit dated 18th April 2013 with the order of the the Delhi High Court dated 12th April 2013. IDEA ID 920 Hands-on
IDEA ID 920 launched recently by the IDEA Cellular Limited is a successor to the ID 918 launched back in year 2012. Similar to the ID918 which was the entry level 3G android smartphone, ID920 is also a entry level dual SIM 3G device but with much faster CPU, yet at very aggressive price point. Idea Cellular has launched two new Android smartphones, Idea ID-920 and Idea Aurus III. The Idea ID 920 is the successor of the ID 918 that was launched last year and the Aurus III is the successor of the Aurus II that was launched last month. The ID 920 has a 3.5 inch (320 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display and runs on Android 2.3 ( Gingerbread). The Aurus III has a 4-inch (480 x 800 pixels) capacitive touch screen display and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). Idea Whiz with 4-inch display, 1 GHz dual-core processor coming soon for Rs. 7850
Idea Cellular is all set to launched a new Android Smartphone, Idea Whiz with a 4-inch WVGA display and a 1 GHz dual-core processor. The company launched the AURUS 2, successor of the first AURUS phone recently. Even though this has a larger display and a faster processor, the phone runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) instead of Android 4.1. It has a 5MP auto focus camera with LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera for video calling. It would come with Dual SIM support similar to other Idea smartphones. Idea Cellular has launched the AURUS 2, successor of the first AURUS phone that was launched last year. It has a 3.5 inch (320 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display similar its predecessor, but this runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and is powered by a 1 GHz processor, instead of 800MHz processor. It has a 3.2MP rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera for video calling. It is aimed at 3G users in semi-urban and rural markets. Airtel, Vodafone and Idea can continue 3G Intra-circle roaming till April 11, says SC
Airtel has got a temporary relief, and can continue their 3G intra-circle roaming till April 11th. A Supreme Court bench has asked telecoms department not to take any action on the Bharti Airtel on 3G roaming pact till Thursday, according to a report from The Economic Times. Last month DoT had asked Bharti Airtel to stop 3G services in 7 circles and asked them to pay Rs. 350 crore (Rs. 50 crore per circle) for illegal roaming pact. Delhi High Court temporarily stalled the execution of DoT’s order until the final hearing, after Airtel appealed against it. DoT asks Vodafone and Idea to stop 3G Intra-circle roaming
The Department of Telecom (DoT) have asked Vodafone India and Idea Cellular to stop 3G services outside their licensed zones in 3 days, according to a recent report by Economic Times. DoT has also asked these companies to pay Rs. 550 and Rs. 300 crore, respectively for violating licence norms. DoT had asked Bharti Airtel to stop 3G services in 7 circles last month and asked them to pay Rs. 350 crore (Rs. 50 crore per circle) for illegal roaming pact. Later Delhi High Court temporarily stalled the execution of DoT’s order until the final hearing, after Airtel appealed against it. Idea cellular has launched Zeal, their new Dual SIM Android smartphone with 3G support in affordable price range. It has 3.5 inch (320 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display and runs on Android 2.3 ( Gingerbread) similar to the Idea Aurus that was launched last year. This phone is aimed at 3G data users in semi-urban and rural markets. It is powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor and comes with Dual SIM (GSM + GSM) support.
