Qualcomm Snapdragon 8150 gets benchmarked again, reveals better score than Apple A12 Bionic and Kirin 980

Back in September Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship Mobile Platform which is said to be released as SM8150 passed through Geekbench revealing scores on-par with the Apple’s A11 Bionic chip and better than the Snapdragon 845-powered flagships. Now the SoC has passed through AnTuTu revealing whopping 362292 points, better than Apple’s A12 Bionic chip that scored around 3.5 lakhs, and Kirin 980’s score of 2.7 lakhs. Federal Trade Commission rules Qualcomm must license its modem patents to competitors

The U.S. federal court in a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC), which monitors acts of commerce, ruled against Qualcomm over the alleged anti-competitive practices and abuse of FRAND patents. Qualcomm says Apple still owes $7 billion in device royalty payments

Qualcomm Inc. in its ongoing federal dispute with Apple on October 26th, in a San Diego federal court, said that the Cupertino company is $7 billion behind in patent royalty payments to the mobile chip firm. While this claim doesn’t mean that Apple owes Qualcomm that much, but reveals the scale of fines in the legal dispute. Xiaomi will launch Snapdragon 675-powered smartphone next year

Earlier today at the 4G/5G Summit in Hong Kong, Qualcomm introduced its latest Snapdragon 675 Mobile Platform based on 11nm process technology, 2 performance (based on new Cortex A76) cores and 6 effciency cores (based on Cortex A55) as well as enhanced AI Engine, Spectra 250 ISP,  Kryo 460 CPUs and Adreno 612 GPU.

Qualcomm Technologies and Ericsson at the 4G/5G Summit in Hong Kong announced the successful completion of a 3GPP Rel-15 spec compliant 5G NR over-the-air (OTA) call over sub-6 GHz bands on a smartphone form factor mobile test device. Qualcomm’s new QTM052 5G mmWave antenna module is 25% smaller

Qualcomm has introduced a new addition to the Qualcomm QTM052 mmWave antenna module family of fully-integrated 5G NR millimeter wave (mmWave) modules for smartphones and other mobile devices. OnePlus will launch 5G smartphones in 2019: Carl Pei

The upcoming OnePlus 6T might that will go official later this month might not faeture 5G support. OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei at the 4G/5G Summit 2018 in Hong Kong announced that OnePlus will be one of the first companies to launch 5G smartphones next year. He also said that OnePlus and his team had already conducted a 5G test at Qualcomm’s headquarters in San Diego back in August.

Qualcomm accuses Apple of stealing trade secrets to improve performance of Intel chips

Qualcomm seems to be in no mood to stop its legal battle against Apple as the chip maker freshly accuses Apple of stealing software and tools to improve chips from its rival Intel. Qualcomm is asking the judge to include the consideration of the latest accusations to a case between the two in state court in California. The suit is due to go to trial in April next year. Verizon completes first 5G NR call on a commercial network with simulated smartphone

Verizon, Ericsson, and Qualcomm Technologies today announced that they have completed the first end-to-end call with a smartphone form factor test device on a commercial 3GPP 5G New Radio (NR) network in Minneapolis, MN.
