Over the last few years, the OPPO Reno smartphone series has been a great example of excellent mid-range devices with impressive camera capabilities. The latest to join the family for Indian customers is the Reno6 series, which consists of two devices – the Reno6 and the Reno6 Pro.
At Rs. 39990, the Reno6 Pro does demand a premium price for a mid-range device, and for that it promises to be a smartphone with a great design, reasonable specs and impressive camera capabilities. Does OPPO deliver on these promises, though? Read on to find out in my review of the Reno6 Pro.

OPPO India has announced that it has conducted 5G standalone network trial for Reno6 Series under the 5G SA network environment provided by Jio at its 5G Lab. The trial yielded highly positive results, said the company. “The encouraging outcomes of the trial ratify the capabilities of both the devices in the Reno6 Series as true 5G devices, bringing a high-quality 5G experience closer to reality,” said OPPO. OPPO just announced OPPO Watch 2, successor to last year’s OPPO Watch in China, as it had promised. It comes in 46mm and 42mm versions, both with 3D curved AMOLED screen. The quick release strap from the predecessor has been replaced with a buckle-type strap, and there is also a calf skin leather version. It comes with support for 4G and native calling, thanks to speakers and microphone. All these feature Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS + GLONASS and NFC support for payment. OPPO has introduced Reno6 Z, the company’s latest smartphone in the Reno6 series in Thailand. It has a 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen with a 32MP punch-hole camera and 90.8% screen-to-body ratio, is powered by Dimensity 800U with support for 5G SA/NSA, 8GB of RAM with up to 5GB virtual RAM and runs Android 11 with ColorOS 11.1. It has a 64-megapixel rear camera along with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide and a 2-megapixel depth and macro cameras. There are AI portrait and Bokeh Flare Portrait video features. Update: OPPO has confirmed the launch of OPPO Watch 2 series in China on July 27th. It has also posted a teaser image that shows a square curved screen and both silicone sports and a leather strap. OPPO launched the Reno6 series 5G smartphones in India this week. The Reno6 Pro 5G is the higher end model in the series that is available in India.
