OPPO Enco Air5s semi in-ear earbuds announced

OPPO has officially launched the Enco Air5s true wireless stereo (TWS) earphones in China, alongside its new Reno16 smartphone series in China. Positioning the new model as a lightweight and highly versatile addition to the Enco lineup, OPPO is targeting users who prioritize all-day wearing comfort without sacrificing smart features.

The earbuds are available in three colorways: Moonlight White, Midnight Black, and Starlight Purple.

Ergonomic Build and Hardware Specifications

The prominent feature of the OPPO Enco Air5s is its ultra-lightweight design, with each individual earbud weighing 3.9 grams. Utilizing a minimalist semi-in-ear form factor that completely omits silicone ear tips, the earbuds are engineered to remain stable and non-intrusive across various ear shapes. Despite the open design, the chassis carries an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance, rendering them resilient against sweat and outdoor environments.

Acoustically, the Enco Air5s is powered by a large 12mm high-resolution dynamic driver unit capable of handling a frequency response range of 20Hz to 20kHz. Sound reproduction is augmented by an adaptive sound optimization system that customizes the output curve based on fit, alongside built-in support for full-device spatial audio effects to deliver 360-degree immersive playback.

Noise Cancellation and Communication

A frequent trade-off with semi-in-ear earbuds is reduced acoustic isolation. To counter this, OPPO has introduced “flagship-level” voice noise cancellation algorithms tailored specifically to work within a semi-in-ear framework.

For voice calls, the Enco Air5s integrates a triple-microphone array. These microphones collaborate with a dedicated AI call noise cancellation system to isolate human speech and actively suppress external distractions, ensuring clear communication even in noisy or windy outdoor conditions.

Connectivity and Smart Ecosystem Integration

The TWS earphones leverage Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity, allowing for low-latency transmission and cross-platform compatibility across both Android and iOS devices. The earbuds also support multi-device workflows with cross-device dual connection, enabling them to pair with two distinct devices (such as a laptop and smartphone) simultaneously and seamlessly switch audio channels based on active tasks.

Control and ecosystem integration features built into the touch-sensitive stems include:

  • Sliding Volume Adjustment: Swiping along the stem alters volume levels without needing to access a host device.
  • Remote Camera Control: Double-tapping can trigger a paired smartphone’s camera shutter.
  • Ecosystem AI Features: Integrated shortcuts provide instant access to an on-device AI assistant and live AI translation modules.
  • Audio Sharing: Allows two sets of compatible earphones to listen to the same media source simultaneously.
Battery Performance

The Enco Air5s relies on rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. Each single earbud holds a 40.5mAh capacity, while the charging case adds a 530mAh reservoir.

  • Noise Reduction Off: Up to 9 hours of music playback on a single charge; up to 48 hours total combined with the charging case.
  • Noise Reduction On: Up to 4.5 hours of playback on a single charge; up to 25 hours total combined with the charging case.
Pricing and availability

The OPPO Enco Air5s Moonlight White and Midnight Black variants retail at a standard price of 299 yuan (USD 44 / Rs. 4,190 approx.), while the Starlight Purple edition is priced at 329 yuan (USD 48 / Rs. 4,610 approx.).
