HP has released first images of its upcoming luxury smartwatch thereby announcing its foray into the competitive smartwatch market. The company has partnered with retailer Gilt and US designer Michael Bastian for its premium smartwatch that will be compatible with iOS and Android devices via an app.

After several rumors HP Slate 7 VoiceTab Ultra and Slate 8 Plus have appeared on the official HP website. The HP Slate 7 VoiceTab Ultra has a 7-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) display, powered by a 1.6 GHz quad-core Huawei HiSilicon processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. All the specifications of the tablet are similar to the Huawei MediaPad X1 that was unveiled earlier this year at the MWC 2014. HP has announced a 14 inch Android powered laptop that is dubbed as SlateBook PC. Priced at $399, the laptop has a 14-inch FHD (1080p) touchscreen display with NVIDIA Tegra 4 under the hood. It is 16 millimeters thick and weighs just around 3.75 pounds (1.7 kg). The SlateBook 14 laptop was first leaked online in April this year.

Now the company has launched HP 7 Plus, a WiFi-only tablet in the US at even cheaper price tag of just $99.99 (Rs. 5875 approx.). Microsoft India has partnered with HP and Pearson to launch a new tablet for college going students. Aiming at students from engineering and management streams, the tablet is powered by Windows 8.1 and dubbed as HP Omni 10.
The downward slide of PC shipment continued even in the first quarter of 2014 after constant decline throughout entire 2013. Global PC shipments dropped to 76.6 million units in the first quarter of 2014, a 1.7 percent decrease from the same period last year, according to Gartner. Gartner attributed the slump in PC shipments to Microsoft’s decision to end support for Windows XP operating system.

HP has launched HP 8, a 7.85-inch tablet in the U.S. It has a 7.85-inch (1024 x 768 pixels) IPS multitouch display, powered by a quad-core Allwinner A31s processor and runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. It has WiFi, but lacks a SIM card slot, so you lose voice calling capabilities. FoneArena is live from MWC 2014 at Barcelona and we have a lot of manufacturers showcasing their products. We are at HP’s booth where they have on display – HP Slate 7 Extreme. HP had announced the HP Slate 7 Extreme sometime in September. HP Slate 7 Extreme is just a rebranded version of the NVIDIA Tegra Note and comes with HP’s own Direct Stylus. The HP Slate 7 Extreme looks like a variant of the NVidia Tegra Note, but with HP branding.
HP launched some of its voice enabled tablets in India earlier this month. Here at the Mobile World Congress we got a chance to check out some of the new products on offer. One of the most interesting products that HP brought to the trade show was its new Slate 8 Pro tablet.
