Google testing auto-fill of 2FA codes from Android Messages

Autofill from SMS has been a feature in Android for many years now. It used an API that allowed apps to read the users messages to mostly authenticate the login credentials. Now, it has been reported that Google is testing the ability to let Messages autofill SMS-based 2FA keys too in any app.

Google Maps celebrates 15th anniversary with new app design, improved Live View and more

Released in 2005, Google Maps has now completed 15 years live. To celebrate, Google announced a bunch of new features like improved public transportation info, a more advanced Live View and a redesign to the organisation of info into 5 easy to access tabs as soon as you open the app.

HUAWEI, Xiaomi, OPPO and Vivo said to create Google Play Store alternative

Earlier last year, Google suspended some of its business operations with HUAWEI which includes a ban on using Google Services and Play Store. Subsequently, the company got another 90-day license extension to do business with American firms and there have been reports that the company has been working on alternatives. On similar lines now, according to the latest reports, Chinese mobile giants Xiaomi, HUAWEI, OPPO, and Vivo are said to be working on a platform to rival Google Play Store.

Alphabet records $46 billion revenue, up 19% YoY in Q4 2019, $4.7 billion from YouTube ads

Google’s parent company, Alphabet has released its earnings report for the fourth quarter of 2019, including the fiscal year of 2019. They posted a growth of 17% in Q4 compared to last year with approx $46 billion in revenue. For the entire year, Alphabet reported $162 billion in total revenue, up 18% year over year and up 20% on a constant currency basis.

Google Translate will soon offer live transcription on Android

During a demonstration of Artificial Intelligence demos at its San Francisco office, Google showed a prototype feature that is in development for Google Translate called Live Transcription. The feature, if it finally arrives to the public, will allow users to speak in one language and transcribe it to another language in real time on Google Translate.

Google Camera update v7.3 brings tweaked menu and DND, hints at 24fps mode and Pixel 4A codename

Google search has now been updated to be able to find previous searches easier when needed later. Collections was introduced by Google as a way to group search results when searching a particular topic. It has now been updated with Suggested Collections, the ability to search related collections and the ability to share collections.
