Released in 2005, Google Maps has now completed 15 years live. To celebrate, Google announced a bunch of new features like improved public transportation info, a more advanced Live View and a redesign to the organisation of info into 5 easy to access tabs as soon as you open the app.
Earlier last year, Google suspended some of its business operations with HUAWEI which includes a ban on using Google Services and Play Store. Subsequently, the company got another 90-day license extension to do business with American firms and there have been reports that the company has been working on alternatives. On similar lines now, according to the latest reports, Chinese mobile giants Xiaomi, HUAWEI, OPPO, and Vivo are said to be working on a platform to rival Google Play Store.

Google’s parent company, Alphabet has released its earnings report for the fourth quarter of 2019, including the fiscal year of 2019. They posted a growth of 17% in Q4 compared to last year with approx $46 billion in revenue. For the entire year, Alphabet reported $162 billion in total revenue, up 18% year over year and up 20% on a constant currency basis.
Google now lets users to browse plans across several mobile carriers, compare discounts and offers, and recharge these plans using the payment with a simple Google Search. This search experience is currently available for users that have signed-in using their Android devices, and collates prepaid service plans from Airtel, Vodafone-Idea, Jio and BSNL across India, said the search engine giant. During a demonstration of Artificial Intelligence demos at its San Francisco office, Google showed a prototype feature that is in development for Google Translate called Live Transcription. The feature, if it finally arrives to the public, will allow users to speak in one language and transcribe it to another language in real time on Google Translate.

Google continues to bring updates to its camera with new features like Do Not Disturb and slightly tweaked the menu’s in the settings. But more interestingly, with an APK teardown, future features have been revealed like a 24fps mode and even the codenames for the upcoming Pixel 4A.
Google, following the trend it follows every year, has set the I/O conference at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California this year too. The event will kick start on May 12th and go through until the 11th. At the conference, Google is expected to introduce Android 11 and updates to its products. Google search has now been updated to be able to find previous searches easier when needed later. Collections was introduced by Google as a way to group search results when searching a particular topic. It has now been updated with Suggested Collections, the ability to search related collections and the ability to share collections.

Google’s Digital Wellbeing experiments are interesting quirky little experiments designed by Google that are aimed at reducing the usage of smartphones in our daily lives. Today Google introduced three new experiments; Envelope, Activity Bubbles and Screen Stopwatch that use unique concepts to help users detox from their smartphones.
The 2020 Pixel Buds were revealed back in October during the Made by Google event 2019 that was primarily held to launch the Pixel 4. Google stated that were slated for a 2020 launch and now a listing has been spotted in the Bluetooth SIG, confirming its imminent arrival.
